As a cultural heritage, the spatial form of traditional villages bears the local regional cultural genes.Based on the central and western regions of Inner Mongolia patterns within the scope of the eight traditional village as the research object, based on the traditional village in the plane of the two-dimensional figure bottom, the whole space form from the dimension of settlement of the medium is decomposed into outer boundary, the internal space and the building group of three parts, through using the landscape ecology, fractal geometry, and mathematical statistics research methods, such as scientific and quantitative research. At the same time, the paper analyzes and summarizes the causes and leading factors of the spatial form of traditional villages by combining the natural and cultural environment factors. The generation of traditional village spatial form is influenced by the natural and cultural factors in the local geographical environment.Three main influencing factors of terrain, water system and immigrant culture are selected to elaborate and analyze,so as to provide a basis for the comparison and analysis of the differences in the quantitative results of traditional village spatial form. The first part of the thesis quantifies the outer boundary of traditional villages.Three virtual boundary scales(200m,50 m and 15m)were used to establish the closure figure of the outer boundary of the settlement.By combining the weighted average shape index of the outer boundary of three layers with its length-width ratio, the classification of settlement morphology was quantified. In addition, the spatial characteristics of the outer boundary of the settlement are described by three quantitative analysis indexes: the density of the settlement boundary, the average width of the edge space and the dispersion degree. Finally,it is concluded that the restrictive factors in the external growth environment of the settlement are the genesis and leading factors of its outer boundary morphology. The second part of the thesis makes a quantitative analysis of the internal spatial forms of traditional villages. The inner space of the settlement is divided into two parts: courtyard space and public space. The courtyard space rate was calculated by taking the courtyard and building as the unit of the household as the combination, and the spatial pattern of the continuous public space was obtained by extrapolating the boundary of the settlement to 2.5m,and the fractal dimension value was calculated to define the structure and complexity of the settlement.Through these two quantitative analysis indexes, the structural characteristics of the inner space of settlements are discussed. Finally,it is concluded that the coupling of topography, land resources and immigrant culture is the cause and leading factor of the spatial form of settlements. The third part of the thesis makes a quantitative analysis of the architectural distribution of traditional villages.Through the calculation and visualization analysis of the core density of the buildings in the settlement,it is found that the spatial form of the settlement and the public space are the causes and leading factors of the distribution form of the buildings in the settlement.Main significance of the study is through the quantitative study of traditional villages in whole space form and form a dominant factor analysis and summary, analysis and reveals the traditional village space form to generate some of the inherent law, still can use quantitative research system of local between different country through the space form the scientific quantitative description, comparison, classification, evaluation, etc.
