Mites in the genus Schwiebea Oudemans(Acari:Acaridae)are associated with underground pest,most of which are also pest mites in storage organs and cargo in international trade.This thesis presents taxonomic research situation of Schwiebea both from domestic and abroad,summary on economical significance,morphology and the study techniques and method.The taxonomic study of Schwiebea of China in this paper was carried out through the field collecting,specimen preparation,and reorganizing specimens which were collected and reserved in specimen room.The results are as follows:Based on taxonomic work,11 species in Schwiebea were identified:S.agrocybe sp.nov.,S.araujoae Fain,1977,S.callae Jiang,1991,S.ipomoea sp.nov.,S.obesa Fain et Fauvel,1988,S.quanzhouensis sp.nov.,S.rocketti Woodring,1966,S.sanmingensis sp.nov.,S.similis Manson,1972,S.tuzkoliensis Bugrov,1995,and S.zingiberi Manson,1972.Four new species:S.agrocybe sp.nov.,S.ipomoea sp.nov.,S.quanzhouensis sp.nov.and S.sanmingensis sp.nov.Three species newly recorded from mainland China:S.obesa Fain et Fauvel,1988,S.rocketti Woodring,1966 and S.tuzkoliensis Bugrov,1995.An identification key on adult females,figures,hosts and distribution of these species were provided.The distinctions between similar species are also discussed.All type materials are deposited in the College of Plant Protection,Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University.
