Disease Incidence Investigation And Analysis Of The Efficacy Of Canine Pyometra

In recent years,human pays more attention on dogs’ disease treatment and health care,since the number of dogs,which are pets and live with human,continuous to increase.The Uterine Empyema is one of the most significant dog disease,because of its high morbidity and perniciousness.The morbidity is higher for elderly dogs,and it’s almost certain for childless dogs.There are two kinds of uterine empyema,which are open uterine empyema and atresia uterine empyema.Open uterine empyema is easy to discover,because the cervix is not completely closed and purulent secretions can be discharged from the vagina.However,due to complete closure of the cervix,the clinical symptoms of atresia uterine empyema are not obvious,thus the owners hardly realize their dogs are suffering from disease.The disease may have been more serious when it is discovered.So,early diagnosis of the disease is essential.In order to achieve better curative effect,early detection and early treatment are crucial.With the large amount of usage of advanced instruments in pet clinical applications,B-mode ultrasound and X-ray has become important approaches for diagnosis of uterine empyema.We can make accurate diagnosis with the help of such approaches,using hematological examination as a supplementary index,and combined with clinical symptoms.Dog’s uterus structure is particular,so we cannot do drug treatment just like other animals.To completely cure the disease,we must remove the uterus by surgery.It’ll be easy to cause bacteremia and toxemia,leading the pathological changes of other tissues and organs,further threaten dog’s life,if timely treatment haven’t conducted.Since July 2015 to March 2017,we collected a total of 30 cases of uterine empyema,including 28 cases of open uterine empyema and 2 cases of atresia uterine empyema.We found the morbidity of uterine empyema is different among different breeds of dogs.There were 7 cases,accounting for 23.3%(7/30),happened on Kiba dog.The morbidity of uterine empyema is higher for elderly dogs.There were 3 cases,accounting for 10%(3/30),happened on dogs younger than 5 years,and 27 cases,accounting for 90%(27/30),happened on dogs elder than 5 years.There were 25 cases,accounting for 83.3%(25/30),happened on childless dogs.The morbidity of uterine empyema is also influenced by seasons.The number of cases happened from March to May was 8,accounting for 26.7%(8/30).The number from September to November was 10,accounting for 33.3%(10/10).Among the 30 cases of uterine empyema disease dogs,we conducted conservative treatment for 4 of them and mortality rate was 100%.We conducted surgical treatment for other 26 dogs and the cure rate achieved 100%,with great prognosis.We analyze the causes of dog uterine empyema to acquire the laws of its incidence.We summed up the precautions of the treatment process.We developed a practical comprehensive control measures for dog uterine empyema.
