More and more studies showed that there are plenty of forest biomass resources in China.If most of the forest biomass could be recovered for power generation and heating,it will benefit the wide utilization of renewable clean resources and meet the needs for growing consumption of resources.After harvesting and forest tending,lots of branches,twigs,tree tops and dead shrubs were left on the site.Some of these residues were burned or abandoned by people.Others were left on the site decomposed naturally.Efficient collection of forest residues is an important issue faced to the forest researchers.Based on the intensive review on forest tending residue collecting devices,a small sized residue collection device was designed with CAD/CAE for adapting to the forest situation in northeastern China.The main parameters were imitated and the overall scheme of the small sized collection device were formulated.Based on the main parameters selected and the overall scheme,the structure of the grapple,telescopic cutting irrigation device,arm shelf,travelling mechanism,and hydraulic system were designed and the corresponding dimension was calculated.the three-dimensional model of small sized residue collection device was constructed with the simulation software of Creo Parametric 2.0.The movement interference test of the device was conducted on the assembly model with the Creo Mechanism simulation module.After confirming the mechanism does not have movement interference,the kinematics simulation and analysis on the virtual model of the device were then conducted.Finally,the assembly model of the device was imported into the MSC.ADAMS 2014 with the format of"·X_T".The dynamics modeling and simulation analyzing on the telescopic cutting irrigation mechanism and the arm shelf mechanism of the device were conducted with the STEP function in ADAMS/View.It's a convenient way for building the virtual model of a small sized collection device with the Creo Parametric software,which could aid in the fast modeling and analysis of movement interference of the device.Results showed that the telescopic cutting irrigation mechanism and the arm shelf mechanism have no movement interference,and their states of motion are very stable.The motion state and dynamic performance of the stand tending residue collection mechanism's operation process was simulated with the STEP function in ADAMS/View.The PX and PY,the force of the stand tending residue grapple's pivot point in X and Y components,are less than the material allowable stress.The grapple of the device has good performance in terms of the transient force and dynamic characteristics.The study showed that the entire design is feasible and the proposed model is reliable.
