| The species diversity of garden cover plant in Zhengzhou were studied on the basis of the main garden green space and the Zhengzhou Flora.And the specific diversity,geographical distribution,community characteristics,ornamental characteristics,ecological characteristics and application of ground cover plant in the garden were expounded in detail.The results of study show that:1.The species diversity of garden cover plant in Zhengzhou City(1)the statistical results show that the garden cover plant in Zhengzhou City(does not contain greenhouse cultivated plants)has 76 families,215 genera,347 species,2 subspecies,31 varieties,6 forms and 44 cultivar.In this,gymnosperm has 2 families,5 genera and 6 species,3 varieties,11 cultivar.Angiosperm has 74 families,210 genera,341 species,2 subspecies,28 varieties,6 forms,33 cultivar.Dicotyledon has 60 families,172 genera,283 species,2 subspecies,23 varieties,5 forms,23 cultivar,Monocotyledon has 14 families,38 genera,58 species,5 varieties,1 form,10 cultivar.(2)summary of the survey materials,30 families,52 genera,43 species,1 subspecies,7 varieties,3 forms and 10 cultivar were not recorded in Flora of Zhengzhou City.(3)There were 157 shrubs,28 vines and 245 herbs in the garden of Zhengzhou City.Among them,evergreen woody plants have 74 species,including 65 shrubs and 9vines;deciduous woody plants have 111 species,including 92 shrubs and 19 vine.(4)Among the 76 families garden cover plant in Zhengzhou city,the mainly compositions of the family in Zhengzhou city are medium-family(53.95%)and large family(40.70%).Based on the statistics of the garden cover plant,the number of compositae species is the most,including 33 genera,47 species.(5)Single-genera species is the largest proportion in garden ground cover of Zhengzhou city,accounting 57.21% of the total number of genera in Zhengzhou,single-genera contains the most species,accounting for 55.35% of the total of the species in this area.The number of Rosa species is the most,contains 15 species.2.The geographical distribution types of garden cover plant in Zhengzhou City The geographical distribution type of families and genera in garden cover plant of Zhengzhou was summarized,it was concluded that: the floristic elements in Zhengzhou mainly composed by widespread,north temperate and pantropic.Among them widespread was the most families(30).In general,It was consistent with the characteristics warm temperate climate of Zhengzhou city.In addition,the proportion of tropical distribution division is higher also.It showed Zhengzhou just in transition zone of sub-tropical to warm temperate zone.3.The structure of garden cover plant community in Zhengzhou City(1)The frequency in garden cover plant of Zhengzhou was analysis,the results showed that in Zhengzhou city garden green space of the highest frequency of 10 grass in local plant was the dwarf Ophiopogon,Oxalis,Hemerocallis,Host,Triflium repens,carnation,willow,Coreopsis,canna and iris;Being the highest frequency of 10 woody plant was Fatsia,Pittosporum,Jasminum giraldii,Nandina,Euonymus japonicus,Spiraea×Bumala,forsythia,floor,photiniax and winter jasmine.(2)The important value in garden cover plant of Zhengzhou was analysis,the results showed that in Zhengzhou city garden green space,the important value of Nandina was the most in the shrub layer,followed by Mahonia,Fatsia,Photinia serrulata,Pittosporum,Euonymus japonicus,winter jasmine,Jasminum giraldii,Holly and forsythia.In the herb layer,the important value of Ophiopogon was the first one,followed by green orchid,Hemerocallis,reed,Coreopsis,Hosta,Oxalis,iris,carnation and Verbena.(3)The species richness in garden cover plant of Zhengzhou was analysis,the results showed that in Zhengzhou city garden green space the highest species richness in the shrub layer was Zijingshan Park(6.36);In the herbaceous layer,the highest species richness was the third nursery of Zhengzhou(2.65).(4)The Simpson diversity index in garden cover plant of Zhengzhou was analysis,the results showed that in the shrubs,the Simpson diversity index was the highest in Zijingshan Park(0.64);In the herbaceous layer,the highest Simpson diversity index was the third nursery of Zhengzhou(0.29).(5)The Shannon-Winer diversity index in garden cover plant of Zhengzhou was analysis,the results showed that the highest Shannon-Winer diversity index in the shrub layer was the South Ring Park(1.24);In the herbaceous layer,the highest Shannon-Winer diversity index was the cultural park(0.51).4.The ornamental characteristics of garden cover plant in Zhengzhou city The flowering period garden cover plant were the most in Zhengzhou city(250).They were often planted in the open for flower bed and flower border.The second was the foliage plants to be planted in the forest or forest edge(154).There were 62 species of ornamental fruits of garden cover plant observed,and the fruit color was red predominates.5.The ecological characteristics of garden cover plant in Zhengzhou city The heliophilous garden cover plants were planted in the open for flower bed and flower border with their bright colors.The shade-enduring plants were planted in the forest or forest edge.The drought resistant barren plants were planted in sloping land.The water resistant plants grew near the water.6.The application of garden cover plant garden in Zhengzhou city The application of Zhengzhou garden cover plant’s life survey analysis
