Camellia oleifera Abel.is an edible oil tree species native to southern China. The genetic variation of six populations with a total of 144 individuals of C.oleifera in Anhui province was investigated based on AFLP markers using two selected primer pairs of M-GAA/E-ATC and M-GCT/E-ATC.?1?A total of 297 AFLP polymorphic loci were obtained. The results indicated the mean values at the species level for the percentage of polymorphic loci?PPLS?of100.00%,the effective number of alleles(nes)of 1.125,the Nei's gene diversity(Hes)of0.107,and the Shannon's information index? Is?of 0.213;At the population level,PPLp=63.86%,nep=1.126,Hep=0.094,and IP=0.168;The analysis showed that the genetic diversity of Camellia oleifera in Anhui Province was relatively low.?2?Genetic differentiation(Gst=0.1226)indicated that 12.26%of total genetic diversity were attributed to the differences among populations;Analysis of molecular variance?AMOVA?revealed that genetic variation among and within C.oleifera populations accounted for 18.13%and 81.87%of the total genetic variation, respectively, indicating that the genetic differentiation among C.oleifera populations was relatively low, genetic variation was mainly found within the populations; The gene flow?Nm?showed the value of 3.579,indicating the frequent gene exchange among populations; The Nei's genetic similarities among populations ranged from 0.968 to 0.995,genetic distances ranged from 0.005 to 0.032;The UPGMA cluster analysis separated the six populations in the present study clearly, and divided them into three groups, showed no correlation between population grouping and geographic distribution.Based on the above analysis results, this study puts forward the strategy of protecting and utilizing the genetic resources of C.oleifera in anhui province. Results of the present study will provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for conservation, sustainable utilization of genetic resources, and tree breeding of C.oleifera.
