At present, the pine wilt disease of Guizhou pine forest has become a serious issue and spread to high altitude areas.Surveys were conducted to investigate the temporal population dynamics and generations per year for the pine sawyer beetle in Guizhou Longli Forestry Farm,Longli,Guizhou China from 2016 to 2017.Three types of traps were set with enhanced APF-I lures at three sites in 2016 and 16 one-meter long pine tree wood logs were set at one of the sites in 2017.Results of 2016 trapping suggests that peaks of beetle adult emergence last from June through August.Female adults were trapped more than male with a male to female ratio of 1:1.72.Pine tree species may have impact on beetle trapping as more beetles were collected in the Armand pine forests than those in Masson's pine forests.ZM-60 trap has the highest trapping efficiency among these three trap types. The temporal dynamics of trapped beetles in 2016 and theoretic total effective temperatures suggest that this beetle may be able to finish three generations in a two-year period in Longli.Survey result of luring pine wood logs in 2017 also suggest that the pine sawyer beetle could be able to finish three generations in two years. The field observation of the behavior of the Pinus Pinus is closer to its natural behavior than in the laboratory. The recapture experiment showed that the beetle specie had a large base in the small area, and the oviposition strategy of may be the j optional foraging strategy.
