The nitrogen?N?,phosphorus?P?and potassium?K?were focused and widely used while the role of trace elements has long been neglected in potato production. In this study the effects of calcium?Ca?and magnesium?Mg?on potato growth and quality were investigated in northern Yin mountain area of Inner Mongolia, using cultivar Kexin No.1 as experimental material. The application method of new-style fertilizer“Polysulphate”was also explored in local potato production system. The main conclusions are as follows:1.Application of calcium fertilizer can significantly increase leaf area index, dry matter and tuber yield; Moreover, the incidence of scab and mechanical damage of skin reduced and thus quality was improved significantly.About 2.8 kg CaO is required to produce 1,000 kg of tuber under 45 t/ha aimed yield in northern Yin mountain area of Inner Mongolia.2.The application of magnesium fertilizer can significantly increase leaf area index, individual tuber weight and tuber yield. The incidence of scab and mechanical damage of skin also reduced and thus quality was improved significantly.About 0.34kg CaO is required to produce 1,000 kg of tuber under 45 t/ha aimed tuber yield in northern Yin mountain area of Inner Mongolia.3.Under the climate and soil conditions in the region, the best fertilization application is combined of 469 kg/ha Polysulphate and 469 kg/ha K2SO4.
