Camellia oleifera is a unique economic tree species in China,which can be traced back to more than 2000 years ago.Improved variety is the core of the farming and animal husbandry industry and superior tree is the foundation of cultivating the improved variety.The test materials were selected from Camellia resources in Guangdong province,the selected superior tree in various varieties of concentrated area:Shaoguan,Heyuan,Jieyang and so on.With the growth of the trees(tree height,crown width,yield and so on),fruit characters(fruit horizontal diameter,fruit longitudinal diameter,fruit shape index)and economic characters(fresh seed yield,dry seed yield,oil content in kernel)were investigated for comprehensive evaluation based on the method of grey correlation degree analysis combined with yield.This research is aimed to provide theoretical basis for making a flirher more superior tree selection and selecting improved varieties which are suited for the local condition in Guangdong province.The results of experimental research are as follows:(1)Resources survey shows that the Camellia oleifera resources in Guangdong province be divided into three categories:Camellia oleifera,Camellia vietnamensis,Camellia semiserrata Chi.In the process of selecting the superior tree,the comparison of the three kinds of Camellia oleifera selected ratio is:Camellia oleifera>Camellia semiserrata Chi>Camellia vietnamensis.selected 17 plants in Camellia oleifera,selected 27 plants in Camellia vietnamensis,selected 21 plants in Camellia semiserrata Chi.(2)The variation of different varieties yield is large.In the verage yield,the maximumin is Camellia vietnamensis(48.00kg),the minimum is Camellia oleifera(13.42kg).The largest production is Jieyang 11(188.5kg),the lowest is Jieyang No.4(10.2kg).a variety between different tree's yield variation is large,the coefficient of variation of yield per square,three kinds of Camellia oleifera were more than 40%,per square yield is stable(0.0-2.0Kg/m~2).(3)Height range mainly concentrated in 2.1-6.0m,the highest is Zhangmutou No.1(9.5m),the lowest is Heyuan No.1(1.6m).The crown width and crown area index,Guangning No.1 is best,the minimum is Yangchun No.8.(4)The fruit characters change amplitude was small between three kinds of camellia,in fruit horizontal diameter,fruit longitudinal diameter,pericarp thickness:Camellia semiserrata Chi>Camellia vietnamensis>Camellia oleifera.In fruit shape index were less than 1,and the largest in Heyuan No.3(1.13),the lowest in Jieyang No.7(0.77).The seed number:Gaozhou No.14(20)and Renhua No.2(20)is most,the least is Camellia oleifera(3).Seed coat thickness was mainly concentrated in 0.22-1.20mm.The fruit shape is orange,spherical and pear.Fruit color:red green,yellow green,red brown,cyan based.(5)The correlation analysis in economic characters showed that there were positive correlation.fresh seed yield and dry seed yield was significant positively correlation.There are significantly correlation between yield and dry seed yield,and the oil content in kernel?the new fruit oil content was significantly correlated withthe yield.(6)Using grey correlation degree analysis combined with growth condition?fruit characters?economic characters,the results showed that In Camellia oleifera,Yangchun No.6,Heyuan No.2 and HeyuanNo.1 rank first,and Yangchun No.5,Lianshan No.2,Lianshan No.4,Lianshan No.5,Liannan No.1 rank last;In Camellia vietnamensis,Jieyang No.11,Jieyang No.9 and Jieyang No.10 rank first,and Gaozhou No.14,Gaozhou No.12,Gaozhou No.11,Jieyang No.5,Gaozhou,No.2 rank last.In Camellia semiserrata Chi,Zhangmutou No.1,Zhangmutou Zhangmutou No.2 and No.3 rank first,Renhua No.3,Renhua No.2,Guangning No.6,Guangning No.5,Renhua No.4 rank last?...
