The construction of beautiful cities and towns has become an important strategic move for national development.As people’s requirements for the ecological environment continue to increase,urban(suburban)greening construction has received extensive attention.Ecological restoration of steep slopes and artificial facades has become an important topic.It can not only maintain water and soil,conserve water,but also provide a certain landscape effect.The construction of landscape forests on steep slopes and artificial facades has many advantages in restoring the ecology,soil and water conservation,and beautifying the environment.Vegetation protection is applied to steep slopes and artificial facades in urban areas.It is of great significance to build environmentally friendly and resource-conserving towns.This study was conducted in the Weibei Tableland(suburbs)in the sorth of Shaanxi Province.The 11 species of landscape forests on the steep slopes and artificial slopes of the Weibei platform were studied.According to the site conditions of steep slopes and artificial facades,11 types of landscape forest species were used.The chlorophyll content,soluble sugar and malondialdehyde content,free water/bound water,WUE,root activity,carbon fixation,oxygen release,and SBE were investigated in three aspects: drought resistance,ecological benefits,and beauty.The pyrolysis water and the SBE method were used to measure and evaluate the species of landscape forests suitable for different steep slopes and artificial facades,which provided a theoretical basis for the construction of landscape forests with steep slopes and artificial slopes in the Weibei platform.Research indicates:(1)When cultivating forests on steep slopes and artificial facades in Weibei tableland and Loess Hills,if emphasis is placed on the drought resistance of landscape forest species,then Platycladus orientalis and Ziziphus jujuba as the backbone species are selected on the below 25°slopes.On the slope of 25-45°,choose Amygdalus davidiana and Celastrus angulatus as the backbone tree species;on slopes above 45°,Pyracantha fortuneana,Amorpha fruticosa,and Euonymus Kiautschoicus as the backbone species.(2)If the focus is on green coverage and LAI,then the leaf area index will be the dominant factor,and Platycladus orientalis will be selected as the backbone tree species on the below 25°slopes,and Amygdalus davidiana will be selected as the backbone tree species on the 25-45° slope;Above 45 ° slope,choose Euonymus Kiautschoicus and Pyracantha fortuneana for the backbone of the tree species.If you pay attention to ecological benefits,you will be guided by carbon fixation and oxygen release.You will choose Platycladus orientalis as the backbone tree species in thebelow 25° slopes,and in the slopes of 25-45°,you will select Amygdalus davidiana as the backbone tree species;at slopes above 45°,Select Pyracantha fortuneana as the backbone tree species.For the urban or urban heat island effect,endothermic oxygen release is the dominant factor.Ziziphus jujuba is selected as the backbone tree species in the below 25°slopes;in the slope of 25-45°,it is selected Amygdalus davidiana as the backbone tree species;in slopes above 45°,Select Pyracantha fortuneana as the backbone tree species.(3)In the process of selection of tree species in urban and suburban steep slopes and artificial landscape forests,if attention is paid to scenic beauty and landscape effects,then the Platycladus orientalis and Prunus cerasifera are the main tree species in the below 25° slopes;On the 25-45°slope,Celastrus angulatus and Acer mono are the main tree species;on the slopes above 45°,Amorpha fruticosa and Euonymus kiautschoicus are the main tree species.Through comprehensive evaluation of the drought resistance,beauty and ecological benefits of 11 species of landscape trees with different slopes,the Platycladus orientalis and Ziziphus jujuba were used as the main tree species on the slopes of below 25°slopes;Celastrus angulatus and Amygdalus davidiana as the backbone species on a 25-45° slope;Amorpha fruticosa and Pyracantha fortuneana are the main tree species on slopes above 45°.
