| The development of forestry has a great impact on China’s national economy.OFDI and export trade are two important ways for Chinese forestry enterprises to participate in international division of labor.This paper uses the relevant data of forestry enterprises to understand the impact of foreign direct investments on export trade,and make suggestions for promoting the transformation,upgrading of China’s forestry industry,enhancing the international competitiveness of China’s forestry industry,and achieving sustainable development of forestry.This paper uses the OFDI data of forestry enterprises of 2005-2015 and the export trade data of forest products of 1996-2015 to analyze the development status and development characteristics of China’s forestry enterprises’ foreign direct investments and export trade.These data provide some guidance for the theoretical and empirical analysis of this study.The paper consists of four different OFDI motivations:natural resource seeking,efficiency seeking,market seeking and strategic asset seeking,the four motivations are used to analyze the impact mechanism of forestry enterprises’ foreign direct investment on export trade.Using the relevant data of China Industrial Enterprise Data base and the Directory of Overseas Investment Enterprises(Institutions)from2009 to 2013.Using the propensity score matching method and the multiple difference method to analyze the impact of forestry enterprises’ foreign direct investment on export trade.This research results show that the OFDI of forestry enterprises play a significant role in promoting the export trade of enterprises.Different foreign OFDI motivations of forestry enterprises have different influences on export trade.Natural resource seeking foreign direct investment significantly promotes the export of domestic parent companies.Strategic asset seeking and market seeking foreign direct investments promote the export of domestic parent companies,but the impact is not significant.The efficiency seeking foreign direct investment significantly inhibits the export of domestic parent companies.According to the classification test of the location of the investment host country,the direct investment of forestry enterprises in North America,Oceania and Europe play a significant role in promoting exports.The investment in Asia and South America has a positive but not significant effect on exports,and direct investment in Africa has an inhibitory effect on exports but not significant.The author made empirical analysis of the Belt and Road enterprises and the Non-Belt and Road enterprises,and the analysis results reflect that direct investment by forestry enterprises along the "Belt and Road" countries significantly promotes the export of domestic parent companies,however,the direct investment of forestry enterprises in non-Belt and Road countries has not played a significant role in promoting exports.According to this research,the suggestions of improving the external discourse rights of China’s forestry enterprises and the transformation upgrading of China’s forestry industry structure are proposed:actively promoting the ability of forestry enterprises in China to participate in OFDI,using OFDI to accelerate the search for growth points to promote the transformation of China’s forestry industry,encouraging forestry enterprises to strategic asset seeking and efficiency seeking are motivated to participate in OFDI,establishing a platform to provide more information on host countries for forestry OFDI,and encouraging forestry companies to invest directly along the "Belt and Road". |
