Current Situation And Protection Of Ancient Tree Resources In Yulin City

Ancient trees are the symbol of the long history and culture of the China.They are green cultural relics,living fossils,and the gene pool of natural excellent original germplasm resources.Ancient trees have high appreciation,cultural and economic value,and forming a unique natural and human resources.It is of great significance for the sustainable utilization of ancient trees in Yulin city to conduct an overall survey and comprehensive protection study on ancient trees resources.Through the investigation of the status quo of ancient trees resources in Yulin City,quantitative analysis was carried out from nine aspects:grades of ancient trees,composition of species,rare and endangered species,distribution,age structure,ownership,growth place,growth potential and follow-up resources.This paper comprehensively analyze ancient trees resources by literature research method,field research method and case analysis method and analyzes the ancient trees protection customs and cultural connotation based on the actual situation of Yulin,and submits suggestions and measures,which could provide a basis for the protection and sustainable use of ancient trees in Yulin City.This draws the following conclusions:(1)Yulin City currently has 8480 ancient trees,all of which are ancient trees,and there are no famous trees;of these,6634 are scattered and 1846are grouped.Most of the ancient trees grow in rural streets and in the outer suburbs.According to the classification of ancient trees,there are 12 super-class ancient trees,52 first-class ancient trees,414 second-class ancient trees,8002 third-grade ancient trees,and 1709 quasi-old trees in the whole city.The ancient trees of the city belong to 47 families,85 genera and 123 species,and the family with the largest number of species is Moraceae;the genus with the largest number of species is the Ficus;the most common species is Litchi chinensis.The distribution of ancient trees in the counties(county-level cities,districts)of the whole city is quite different.The ancient trees in Luchuan County are the most,accounting for 58.68%of the whole city,while the Yushu District of Yulin City has the lowest number of ancient trees,accounting for 3.68%of the whole city.The age of ancient trees in Yulin City is mainly concentrated between 100 and 299 years,accounting for the vast majority.There are only 12 ancient trees,whose age is over thousand years.There are 4481 collectively owned ancient trees in the city,accounting for 52.84%of the total number of trees,3685 individuallyowned ancient trees,accounting for 43.46%of the total number,and 268 state owned ancient trees,accounting for 3.16%of the total number.In addition,46 ancient trees have no clear ownership,temporarily classified as other types to be determined.The ancient trees in Yulin City are mainly distributed in the vicinity of villages and mountainous forests,mainly"shegongmu","fengshui forest" and "landscape tree".The growth potential of ancient trees in Yulin City is generally good,with 7321 strains growing normally,accounting for 86.33%of the total number;while weak,endangered and dead strains account for 13.67%.In terms of follow-up resources of ancient trees,there are 1709 quasi ancient trees in the whole city,belonging to 75 families,59 genera and 75 families.(2)Ancient trees in Yulin City have unique cultural connotations.In this ancient tree survey,the most common species of shrine ancient trees in Yulin City are Ficus microcarpa、Cinnamomum camphora、Litchi chinensis、Dimocarpus longan、Pinus massoniana、Castanopsis hystrix.There are 129 ancient trees groups,including 1846 ancient trees,most of which are sheshan ancient trees.Temples usually refer to places for gods or historical celebrities,mainly including temples,sacrificial gods or buildings dedicated to sages,religious buildings.In terms of ancient trees culture,in 2017,the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Greening Committee Office organized a series of activities to find the most beautiful ancient trees in Guangxi.A total of 200"most beautiful ancient trees"were selected,and 13 ancient trees were selected in Yulin City.There are 7 kinds of Guangxi protected wild plants in the ancient trees of Yulin City and 4 national grade II key protected wild plants.There is 1 national grade I key protected wild plant.In the most of the ancient trees,the oldest ancient tree in Yulin City is Eryt.hrophleum fordii,located in Sanhe Village,Songshan Town,Rong County.The largest ancient tree in Yulin City is Antiaris toxicaria,located in Fengqiu Village Liangtian Town,Luchuan County,Yulin City.(3)Through the investigation and research on the protection and utilization of ancient trees resources in Yulin City,four problems were found:insufficient awareness of ancient trees protection,unclear responsibility for management and protection,insufficient capital investment,lack of technical talent.This paper puts forward preliminary suggestions for existing problems:strengthening publicity to raise awareness of protection;implementing responsibility to strengthen protection and management;investing funds to provide strong guarantee;strengthening research and building talent team.
