| Star Anise(illicium verum)is a kind of tree species with strong economic benefits,and it is also a precious kind specially grown in China.Guangxi is the home place of its origin and the main production area with a reputation of"Home of World Anise",where Gulong Town,Teng County distinguishes itself as the famous hometown of star anise.Currently the area has 9,300 hm2 of grown anise trees,accounting for 28.26%of the cultivation of Teng County and 5.26%of the total cultivation area in Guangxi;the annual output of more than 6,OOOt dry anise accounts for more than 80%of the county's production and 11%of the total production in Guangxi;the output of more than 300t deep processed anise oil takes up 8.5%of the total production in Guangxi.The anise industry has played a significant role in promoting the local economic development.In recent years,the anise price has been undergoing large fluctuations and the new afforestation is going slow.Under such circumstances,this paper summarizes the present situation of the anise industry in Gulong town and probes into the problems and challenges existing in the industrial development of the town,which is of great significance to ensure the sustainable increase of farmers' incomes of Gulong Town and Teng County,and to promote the development of agricultural economy and the modernization of local villages and towns.Based on the development of anise industry in Gulong,this paper uses field investigation,literature research,expert discussion,data analysis and other methods as well as applies the theories of agronomy,industrial economics,regional economics and marketing to evaluate the advantages,potential and existing problems of the anise industry in Gulong Twon,Teng County in a comprehensive method,thus concluding the main strategies and measures to promote the anise industry development in Gulong Town and Teng County.The main conclusions in this paper are as follows.(1)Gulong Town as the main production area of star anise of Teng County,has the advantages of resources,location,profound foundation,technology,climate,and brand;the output enhancement and added value of processed products are large in terms of development potential;the momentum of export from the distribution center is promising.(2)Gulong Town has the disadvantages also loom large,such as the weak strength in high-yield cultivation technology,large areas of low-yield forests,low output,higher costs of planting and collection of anise crops,shortage of labors,declining number of practitioners and severe trend of aging labors.Moreover,the processing technology is clumsy and the quality is unstable,as well as low investment of R&D,lack of leading model enterprises and lower value of deep processing in anise products.(3)By drawing on the experience of anise development in other regions,this paper puts forward the status of anise industry,and proposes to improve the upgrading of anise business,enhance the modernization level of demonstration base,perfect the industrial standardization and integration of anise,promote the integration of anise storage,transportation and distribution,strengthen the development and technical support for new varieties of anise,optimize the structure of employees and innovative industrial models,cultivate model enterprises,solicit industrial capital investment,implement brand strategy,expand the brand market,and speed up industrial development and other strategies and suggestions. |
