Garlic should be planted uprightly for a better growth,appearance and higher yield.Because of the irregular shape of garlic clove,upright positioning of garlic clove is a difficult issue in planting.A floating posture adjusting and upright feeding experimental device for garlic cloves was designed to complete the orderly supply of garlic cloves based on liquid buoyancy and swirl feeding principles.Theoretical analysis and experimental study were carried out and the main results and conclusions are as follows:1)A single factor experiment was carried out to study the effect of soaking on the center of gravity(c.g.)of garlic cloves.The results showed that,soaking time had significant influence on c.g.in transverse and longitudinal direction of garlic cloves.The c.g.of garlic cloves soaked for 0?18h changed significantly and it tended to be stable after soaking for 18?48h.2)The static analysis in liquid and dynamic analysis in swirl flow water of garlic cloves were carried out and principles of posture adjusting and the motion of the clove were determined,the results showed that the liquid floating posture adjusting and upright delivery in swirl flow of garlic cloves are practicable.3)The overall design of garlic floating upright positioning and seed feeding device was conducted,and the floating upright posture adjustment and seed delivery device,seed feeding mechanism were designed.The swirl flow field was generated by the impeller to orderly deliver garlic cloves and a dial rollerwas designed to feed single seed of garlic cloves.The design and analysis of other parts were conducted and the parameters of the system were determined.4)The flow field in garlic upright delivery device was simulated based on Fluent.The effect of impeller shape,rotating speed and distance under liquid surface on velocity distribution was investigated and the parameters of the system were determined.5)Single factor experiments were carried out.The effect of shape of impeller bladeon flow field in seed-liquid container,and theresults showed that,the distribution of garlic cloves in the flow field generated by arc-shaped blades was more uniform;Effects of single factors of impeller rotating speed,displacement of impeller under water surface,shape and speed of dial feeding roller on qualified feeding rate and upright rate of garlic cloves were carried out respectively,the results showed that the dial feeding roller with forward tilting chute was the best and the optimum range of other factors were determined.6)The orthogonal rotation combination experiment was carried out on the basis of single factor experiments.The regression model between the factors and the qualified feeding rate,upright rate of garlic cloves was obtained.And response surface method was used to analyze the interaction influence between various factors on the qualified rate and upright rate.The optimal operating parameters combination were obtained as the impeller speed is 50r/min,the installation height of impeller is 160 mm,the speed of seed metering wheel is 4.61r/min,then the qualified feeding rate is 81.24% and the upright rate is 87.3%.
