Cropland resources are the material foundation that humans rely on for existence. With the continuous development of industrialization and urbanization and the growing population in current society, the role of cultivated land quality in ensuring food security and even social stability has become increasingly prominent.Determining the spatial variation and the impact factors of cultivatedland quality and its dynamic change can provide guidance and a scientific basis for people to protect and improve the cropland quality in the light of local conditions in an efficient way. This study took Fujian Province, which has complex and diverse topography and landform,as a study area. With the help of integrated GIS,the 1:50000 scale spatial attribute database for the cultivated land quality with 10 grades of Fujian Province was established based on the 29945 soil sample points in the year 2009 and 3641 in 2017.On the above basis, the spatial variation of cultivated land quality and its dynamic change and driving factors of cultivated land quality change were analyzed. The result shows that:1.The average grades of cultivated land quality in Fujian Province in 2009 and 2017 were 6.44 grade and 4.91 grade respectively. In 2009,the quality grade of cultivated land was mainly from the seventh to the tenth, and in 2017 was mainly from the fourth to the sixth. The quality of cultivated land in Fujian has generally improved, but the overall quality of cultivated land is not superb, and the spatial difference of cultivated land quality is obvious.2.From 2009 to 2017,the quality grade of cultivated land in Fujian Province has increased by an average of 1.53 grades, and there is a significant spatial difference in the dynamic change of cultivated land quality. The average change grades of cultivated land quality for each administrative region in Fujian were different, the quality level of cultivated land varies between 0.70 and 1.89,and the quality of cultivated land in Zhangzhou City was the most upgrade, and the lowest was in Ximen. In addition to Zhangzhou City, the cultivated land quality upgrade in the coast areas were all lower than the average level of the whole province, and inland opposite.Among different types of cultivated land use,the quality grade of dryland increased the most, followed by paddy fields, and the irrigated land was with the leastquality improvement. In terms of different altitudes, the average grades of cultivated land quality improvement at elevation <200 m,200-400 m,400-600 m,600-800 m,800-1000 m,1000-1200 m and >1200 m are respectively 1.40 grades,1.70 grades,1.66 grades,1.53 grades,1.48 grades,1.44 grades and 1.32 grades. The average grades of cultivated land quality improvement were1.52 grades,1.63 grades,1.65 grades,1.68 grades,1.63 grades, and 1.28 grades of different interval of distance of cultivated land to residential area. The average grades of cultivated land quality improvement were 1.47 grades,1.64 grades,1.68 grades,1.69 grades,1.64 grades, and 1.44 grades of different interval of distance of cultivated land to road.3.The dynamic change of cultivated land quality is affected by factors such as social and economic development and population growth. The grey slope correlation analysis showed that the dynamic change of the quality of cultivated land in Fujian Province during 2009 to 2017 was driven mainly by the proportion of the first production, the proportion of agricultural employment, the level of urbanization, the effective irrigation area, the application of potassium fertilizer and thegraincropssownarea.
