Pepper?Capsicum frutescens L.?is one of popular vegetables in the world and is cultivated wilderly around China. The local farmers put too much fertilizer into the pepper field and results in nutrient accumulation in the soil, which would pose an environmental risk.In order to deal with overfertilization problem in pepper planted area, the field survies and field experiments were set up to investigated the effects of organic feritilizers and microbial inoculants on the growth of pepper, physicochemical properties of soils and potentials of fertilizers reducing and efficiency increasing. This study was conducted in Wangdu County with pepper cultivation for Jize County with pepper cultivation for 10 years. It aims to build up the models of safty and high efficient fertilization for pepper growth. The main findings are as follows:1.The field survey in Wangdu County showed that the temporal and spatial variations of soil physicochemical indics were not significant after pepper has planted for1-2 years. The average of organic matter is 18.3 g/kg inorganic fertilizer combined with organic fertilizer enhanced the growth of pepper significantly.Compared with farmer's conventional fertilization, although the application rates of N,P2O5 and K2O reduced by9.09%,51.2% and 7.50% in the treatments of inorganic fertilizer+cow manure and inorganic fertilizer+cow manure+microbial inoculants, the pepper fruits yields increasedt by 20.0% and 6.17%.Meanwhile,Partial Factor Productivity of Fertilizer?PFP?enhanced by 125% and 78.4%,and both net income and the ratio of productivity to input increased by 28.1%,57.0% and 51.1%,68.9%.Although the treatment of inorganic fertilizer+cow manure+microbial inoculants did not change pepper yields and PFP obviously,it increased the concentrations of capsaicin in pepper fruits for 73%compared with inorganic fertilizer+cow manure. Therefore, the model of cow manure with inorganic fertilizer is suitable for the situation of pepper with low level of capsaicin, and the model of cow manure+inorganic fertilizer+microbial inoculants is better to use in the situation of pepper with high levels of capsaicin.2.The field survey in Jize County showed that there were high Soil pH and EC,17.5g/kg of oranic matter at averagely, high levels of available P and K accumulation in topsoil from the field with pepper planting for 10 years. The plot experiment showed that the treatment of cow manure+inorganic fertilizer+microbial inoculants significantly increased the growth of pepper plants and numbers of flowers, and reduced the diseased fruit rate 13 pencentage points combine with farmer's conventional fertilizition.Although there was no significant differences in pepper fruits yields between farmer conventional fertilization and the recommended fertilization, the application rates of N,P2O5 and K2O reduced by 55.9%,75.8% and 56.8% and PFP increased by 1.96-2.24 folds.Compared with farmer's conventional fertilization, the net income, the ratio of productivity to input and the concentrations of capsaicin in pepper fruits for the treatments of inorganic fertilizer+cow manure and inorganic fertilizer+cow manure+microbial inoculants increased by 31.4% and 67.1%,70.4% and 78.2%,89.0% and 71.2%significantly,respectively.Therefore,the application of cow manure+inorganic fertilizer or cow manure+inorganic fertilizer+microbial inoculants would be better pathway in area with continuous pepper cropping for more than 10 years. In summary,on the condition of recommended fertilization, the safty and high efficient fertilization model is inorganic fertilizer+cow manure or inorganic fertilizer+cow manure+microbial inoculants.
