This experiment was to research the effects of the lotus corniculatus condensed tannin on the growth performance,rumen fermentation performance,serum biochemical parameters,rumen microorganisms and fecal microorganisms of 3-month-old Hu sheep.The experiment used the lotus corniculatus and 3-months-old male Hu sheep as the experiment material.Eighteen healthy male Hu sheep were random divided into three groups.Every group had six sheep.Oat mixed alfalfa,lotus corniculatus and PEG with lotus corniculatus were fed to Hu sheep.The experiment were continued up 30 days,including the 6 days of adaptation days and 24 days of experiment days.The results as follows:1 There was no significant difference in the average daily gain,feed/weight,and average daily feed intake among the three groups.The apparent digestibility of DM,ADF,and CP in the mixed hay group was significantly lower than those in Lotus corniculatus group and Lotus corniculatus with PEG group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the apparent digestibility of each nutrient in Lotus corniculatus group and Lotus corniculatus with PEG group.2 Serum globulin concentrations in the lotus corniculatus group and the lotus corniculatus with PEG group were significantly lower than those in the mixed hay group(P<0.05).The order of blood A/G ratio in each test group was lotus corniculatus with PEG group>lotus corniculatus group>mixed hay group(P<0.05).Alanine aminotransferase in the lotus corniculatus group and the lotus corniculatus with PEG group were significantly lower than those in the mixed hay group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in serum immunity among the three groups(P>0.05)The SOD in lotus corniculatus group was significantly higher than those in mixed hay group and lotus corniculatus with PEG group(P<0.05).3 The pH of lotus corniculatus group was significantly higher than the other two groups(P<0.05).The NH3-H,total VFA concentration,acetic acid concentration,propionic acid concentration,butyric acid concentration,isobutyric acid concentration,and isovaleric acid concentration in lotus corniculatus group were significantly lower than those in lotus corniculatus with PEG group(P<0.05).The valeric acid concentration,isobutyric acid concentration,and isovaleric acid concentration in mixed hay group were significantly lower than those in the lotus corniculatus with PEG group(P<0.05).The other indicators were not significantly different between the mixed hay group and lotus corniculatus with PEG group.The acetic acid/propionic acid in the three groups was not significant difference.Methanogens,rumenococcus albus,ruminococcus flavefaciens,butyrivibrio fibrisolvens,and prevotella ruminicola in lotus corniculatus group were significantly lower than in lotus corniculatus with PEG group(P<0.05),and prevotella ruminicola in mixed hay group were significantly lower than in lotus corniculatus with PEG group(P<0.05).4 There were no effect on the Shannno and Simpson indexes of rumen microorganisms in the three experimental groups(P>0.05).The Chao1 and ACE indexes of the lotus corniculatus group were significantly higher than those of the mixed hay group and lotus corniculatus with PEG group(P<0.05).There were no effect the Shannno,Chao1,Simpson,and ACE of the fecal microorganisms(P>0.05).At the phylum level and genus level of rumen microorganisms,there were no significant differences in the predominant bacteria groups in three groups(P>0.05).The ruminococcaceae genus of fecal microorganisms in lotus corniculatus were significantly higher than those in other groups(P<0.05).In conclusion,the digestibility of DM,ADF and CP in lotus corniculatus was higher than that of alfalfa oat mixed hay,but it had no significant effect on growth performance.The condensed tannin of lotus corniculatus had no effect on the growth performance and nutrient digestibility of hu sheep.The lotus corniculatus and their condensed tannin can improve the antioxidant capacity of animals,reduce the rumen fermentation performance,and reduce the relative expression of methanogenic bacteria and major fibrin-degrading bacteria in the rumen.The lotus corniculatus and their condensed tannin did not change the overall structure of rumen and fecal microorganisms.
