Alfalfa is an important forage for cows and other ruminants,known as the"king of herbage".The development of alfalfa industry is of great significance for adjusting the planting structure,promoting the combination of agriculture and animal husbandry,and improving the market competitiveness of grass products and livestock products.The objective of the study was to analysis the nutrient contents,such as CP,NDF,ADF,and quality grading of domestic alfalfa hay.In this study,240 domestic alfalfa hay samples were taken from dairy farms,forage enterprises or alfalfa breeding experimental bases in nine provinces of Henan,Hebei,Shandong,Shanxi,Inner Mongolia,Ningxia,Gansu,Xinjiang and Heilongjiang.The conclusions of this experiment were as follows:1.In the main nutrient contents of alfalfa hay,the pairings of NDF,ADF and RFV and the pairings of NDF,ADF and CP were all linearly correlated,and could be estimated mutually according to the regression formula,which provided the basis for us to calculate RFV and CP rapidly with one variable.In particular,NDF,ADF and CP can be measured in pairs,and the determination coefficient R?2>0.5,that was of great help to actual production2.The variation coefficient of main nutrients content of domestic alfalfa hay was large,showing the characteristics of large data span,wide range and obvious fluctuation.CP content ranged from 10.14%to28.07%,with an average of 18.40%.The NDF content ranged from 26.98%to 64.39%,with an average of43.70%.The ADF content ranged from 19.83%to 49.33%,with an average value of 32.37%.RFV values were distributed between 73.35 and 253.22,with an average value of 140.34.3.Among the nutrient contents of alfalfa hay in different provinces,The overall performance of Xinjiang was better,while that of Hebei was worse.4.For the quality grade of alfalfa hay nationwide based on a single nutritional index,50%of the CP and ADF indexes were of high quality grass at or above the first grade;RFV,NDF two indicators,grade one and above the quality of grass accounted for 32%or so.5.According to the quality grade of domestic alfalfa hay based on comprehensive nutrition indicators,30.41%of the high-quality grasses at or above the first grade showed that the overall quality level of domestic Alfalfa hay is low.When evaluating the comprehensive rating of alfalfa hay,10.82%of the samples were degraded for low CP and 47.08%for low RFV.In view of the above conclusions,efforts should be made in the future to improve the CP level and reduce the NDF level,the main way to improve the CP level was to grasp the mowing time,the bud stage was the best harvest;The main ways to reduce the NDF level were to shorten the drying time,apply secondary pressure during baling,increase the density of hay,avoid low-density long-term storage,and prevent lignification and nutrient loss.In view of the problems existing in the alfalfa industry,such as inadequate production technology,insufficient mechanization level and weak quality awareness of practitioners,it was necessary to speed up technological research and development,improve the mechanization level and conduct regular training and supervision for practitioners,also to improve the rapid detection technology,price alfalfa hay according to CP and RFV values,establish an authentic and widely applicable quality evaluation system,and promote the market share of high-quality products to continuously expand.
