Finding natural drugs from vegetables and fruits is a research priority.The fruit of Momordica charantia is very prevalent among southeast and south Asian counties,and it also has the function to treat diabetes.The research from the fields of plant chemistry and nutriology showed that M.charantia abounds in cucurbitane-type tetracyclic triterpenoids in its pulp.The bioactive evaluation contained anti-tumor,anti-obesity,inhibiting adipogenesis,antidiabete,antioxidant and antibacterial for cucurbitane triterpenoids.In previous studies,the studies on adipogensis showed that the cucurbitane-type triterpenoids compound isolated from M.charantia,displayed strong activities on both the models of insulin-induced 3T3-L1 adipocytes and caenorhabditis elegans.Carried out this research,both ammount and number of cucurbitane-type triterpenoids from M.charantia will be enlarged.At the same time,the laten valuable usage and prospect will be evaluated by enriching the bioactive compounds to be tested on animals.By doing so,we hope to find new lead antihyperlipidemics compounds,or to establish the academic base on exploiting medicine to treat obesity.The dried slices of M.charantia pulp was extracted with methanol and ractionated with petroleum ether and n-butyl alcohol.Thirty compounds were obtained from n-butyl alcohol fractions by column chromatography over silica gel,RP C18 silica gel,and Sephadex LH-20,and HPLC.These compounds were identified by 1D NMR,2D NMR and MS spectrum analysis.Selected compounds were evaluated for the inhibitory activities of fat seposition on both the models of insulin-induced 3T3-L1adipocytes and caenorhabditis elegans.Scleropyrum wallichianum,also called“Wild Walnut”or“Jiuzuiguo”in Chinese,which is a native woody oil plant in southern Yunnan.S.wallichianum has well biology characteristics including fructification,seed germination and growing characteristics at the stage of seedling.Its kernel is rich in oil,which contains high content of unsaturated fatty acid and has a better quality.In the local,ethnic minorities consumption the fruit has a long history.The seeds of S.wallichianum has a good economic value and development prospect in all aspects.However,only the analysis of the composition of oil in the seeds has been reported.The evaluation of the structure,function and activity of other chemical components has not been paid enough attention.In order to better exploiting and utilizing the resources of S.wallichianum,this paper analyzed the fatty acid composition in the oil form S.wallichianum and changes of fatty acid content of different maturity systematically by method of methyl ester and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.In consideration of the seeds of S.wallichianum tasted bitter and caused dizziness,which had seriously limited the application of S.wallichianum.In order to find such bitter components,we investigated the chemical constituents of the seeds of S.wallichiamum and four new pyrrolizidine alkaloids?PAs?,sclerwalins A-D?1-4?were first isolated from methanol extraction.Research found that PAs had hepatotoxicities,antibacterial and anti-tumor activities.Therefore,we evaluated their antibacterial activity and cytotoxicities against five human tumor cell lines?HL-60,A-549,SMMC-7721,MCF-7 and SW480?...
