| ObjectiveTo understand the epidemic status of tobacco in residents aged 15 and above in Henan Province in 2017,and provid scientific evidence for evaluating the effect of tobacco control in Henan Province and formulating tobacco policies.MethodsA total of 7680 residents aged 15 and above were selected from 32 survey sites in Henan Province by stratified multi-stage clustering and random sampling.Pad were used for collecting information.SPSS 21.0 was used for data processing and analysis.Results1.The prevalence status of smokingThe current smoking rate of residents in Henan Province is 23.14%.Men(46.06%)were significantly higher than women(0.47%)(P<0.001);The current smoking rate of residents who had high school education level were the highest(31.84%)(P<0.001);Among different occupations(P<0.001),firm/business/service workers had the highest smoking rate(34.97%),while teachers,medical staff and other public service employees had a lower smoking rate(15.92%);Households with annual income above 50,000 RMB had the lowest smoking rate(19.12%)(P<0.05);Smoking rate who had seen cigarette smoking promotion sponsors were higher than those who had not seen(P = 0.001);The current smoking rate of those who approved cigarette packs was lower than those who did not agree(P <0.001);The current smoking rate of who was in favor of raising tobacco tax current smoking rate were lower than those who did not(P<0.001);The current smoking rate of those who smoked at home was lower(P<0.001).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male,low-educated,firm /business/service workers,those who did not approve of improving tobacco taxation,and those who were allowed to smoke at home were the risk factors for current smoking.2.The prevalence of smoking cessationThe smoking cessation rate among smokers aged 15 and above in Henan Province was 20.98%,men(20.48%)was lower than women(50.78%)(P<0.001);and urban residents(18.65%)was lower than rural residents(23.17%)(P<0.001);smoking cessation rate was going up with the increasing of age(P<0.001);A lower smoking cessation rate was accompanied by a higher degree of education(P<0.001);Among different occupations(P<0.001),the smoking cessation rate among retirees was the highest(45.18%);The smoking cessation rate in those residents whose annual income of less than 10,000 RMB was the highest(29.90%)(P<0.05);The smoking cessation rate for those residents who once had seen tobacco advertising promotion sponsors was lower than those who hadn't seen(P<0.05);The smoking cessation rate for those who approved raising tobacco tax was higher than those who did not(P<0.001);Those residents who were not allowed to smoke at home had a higher smoking cessation rate(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that women,residents aged 65 and above,those who were in favor of raising tobacco tax,and those who were not allowed to smoke at home were more likely to quit smoking.3.The prevalence of secondhand smoke exposureThe secondhand smoke exposure rate of non-smoking population in Henan Province was 57.92%.The secondhand smoke exposure rate of non-smokers aged15 and above in Henan Province was 57.92%.Men(64.66%)was higher than women(54.29%)(P<0.001),and the secondhand smoke exposure rate was the highest in the 30-45 age group among all the age groups of non-smokers(64.02%)(P=0.001);The secondhand smoke exposure rate was the highest in enterprises/business/ service workers of all the occupation groups of non-smokers(70.07%)(P<0.001);Secondhand smoke exposure rate was going up with the increasing of household income(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic analysis showed that men,15-30 age group,and high-income residents were risk factors for secondhand smoke exposure.4.Tobacco hazard perceptionThe tobacco hazard awareness rates of aged 15 and above in Henan Province about stroke,heart disease,lung cancer,erectile dysfunction and all of the four diseases were 43.87%,52.28%,89.47%,28.97%,and 22.52%,respectively;The awareness rates of adult heart disease,children's lung disease,adult lung cancer,and all of the three diseases were 41.19%,68.33%,73.25%,and 36.68%,respectively;the correct recognition rate for low-tar cigarettes was 14.75%.Rural residents,elders,people with low education level,agricultural and forestry production personnel,low-income households,and current smokers had low awareness of tobacco hazard(All P-values < 0.05).ConclusionsThe current smoking rate of 15 or above residents in Henan Province has been reduced.The smoking cessation rate of among smokers in Henan Province is relatively low.The secondhand smoke exposure rate of non-smoking population in Henan Province is relatively high.Residents in Henan Province have a lower awareness of tobacco hazard.Rural residents,elders,people with low education levels,agricultural and forestry production personnel,low-household-incomers and current smokers have a lower awareness of tobacco hazard. |
