Objictive To investigate the effect of postural reduction combined with PKP in the treatment of osteoporotic kyphoplasty(OVCF)for kyphoplasty and the related factors that affect the degree of improvement of the kyphotic deformity. Methods The group of 79 patients were treated by percutaneous kyphoplasty. There are 37 males and 42 females, with an average age of 71.5±5.9 years range from 60 to 87 years old including 79 level from T9 to T4.All of them were confirmed by CT as the osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF)with the integrity vertebral posterior wall. All patients are asked to followed up for more than a year by regular outpatient care.We use the indexes conbined vertebral body height?average cobb angle?Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)?Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)to evaluate the efficacy of the operation.Age,gender, body mass index(BMI),bone density(BMD),segment of the injured vertebra, preoperative postoperative Cobb Angle, the leakage of bone cement were used to be independent variables to analyze the related factors that may affect the correction of kyphosis which is the dependent variable. Results This group of patients with postoperative vertebral body height(80.4% ±7.6%)than the preoperative vertebral body height(67.3%±11.4%)improved significantly, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The cobb Angle (9.7°±5.3°)of postoperative compared with preoperative(17.3°±7.2°)is reduced significantly, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The VAS scores of preoperation, one day postoperation and the final follow-up were respectively(8.0±0.7),(3.1±0.5),(2.2±0.4).The VAS of postoperative and final follow-up was significantly lower than preoperative, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).It was found that preoperative cobb angle, preoperative fracture vertebral body height,BMD,fracture age, were correlate with the improvement of postoperative kyphosis deformity. Conclusion Kyphoplasty is safe and effective therapeutic modality for treat senile osteoporosis compressibility fracture. The correction of the cobb angle of the cobb angle was positively correlated with the preoperative cobb angle, which was negatively correlated with the fracture age,the bone density and the height of the preoperative vertebral body.
