Objective:To explore a more suitable guiding theory of TCM classic translation for improving the English translation level of Neijing and promoting the overseas dissemination of TCM culture. Methods:The papers related to English translation of Neijing were retrieved through CNKI and the research status of English translation of Neijing was summarized.Ten paragraphs of Neijing were randomly chosen.Li's(Li Zhaoguo)English translation,"Wu's(Wu Liansheng and Wu Qi)English translation and the author's English translation of the ten paragraphs of Neijing were selected. The satisfaction on the three kinds of English translation was investigated by questionnaire survey to analyze the significance of eclecticism theory guiding the translation of TCM classics. Results:Based on the literature analysis,it was found that empirical studies on translation of Neijing were few. There was no translation theory that scholars agree on.The result of questionnaire survey showed that the satisfaction of author's English version is higher than that of Li's English translation and Wu's English version.Translation satisfaction scores between author' English translation and Li's English translation as well as between author' English translation and Wu's English translation were both significantly different. The result of questionnaire survey showed that the translation guided by eclecticism theory was superior to that guided by other theories. Conclusion:In the guidance of eclecticism theory, the translation of TCM classics can be significantly improved.Besides,as for English translation of Neijing, the translators are required to have an extensive knowledge of Chinese and western medicine and ancient Chinese and the excellent command of English.
