English translation of Dui-ou in Huangdi Neijing (The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine) is studied, including the English translation of Dui-ou sentences and antithetical words. The paper consists of two parts: theoretic review and empirical research. In the first part, translation of Huangdi Neijing, corpus-based linguistics, comparative study of Dui-ou and English translation of Dui-ou were briefly introduced. In the second part, a parallel translation corpus was constructed, consisting of one Chinese and two English versions of Suwen of Huangdi Neijing. There are 142 Dui-ou sentences in the first 34 chapters in Suwen of Huangdi Neijing and 220 antithetical words in the first five chapters. The corresponding translations of these selected Dui-ou sentences and antithetical words were found in two English versions of Suwen of Huangdi Neijing. After conducting comparative research on Dui-ou and antithesis and studying the translations of Dui-ou sentences in two English versions of Suwen of Huangdi Neijing, we conclude that there are three ways to translate Dui-ou sentences: translating them into antithesis sentences; transforming grammatical structure; translating them into prosaic sentences. The translation method of translating Dui-ou sentences into antithesis sentences with the same number of words, same sentence structure and identical rhythm ensures the equivalent effect of translation in form and content. The second translation method is to translate Dui-ou sentence into two basically symmetrical sentences according to English syntax, without deliberately pursuing the complete symmetry. The third translation method is to give up the form of Dui-ou with the purpose of better delivering and keeping the essence of the original meaning.Antithetical words in Neijing can be classified into positive antithetical words and negative ones. To translate antithetical words in Neijing, direct translation, cutting translation and selection translation can be used. Different translation methods are used according to certain linguistic circumstances. For example, direct translation is used when corresponding English words can be found; if complete corresponding English words do not exist, cutting translation should be used with the guiding principle of equivalent translation; and for the purpose of conveying the meaning of words, selection translation can be employed.
