Purpose: The Purpose of the study was to compare the effectiveness of autogenous toothbone graft material(Auto-BT)with biphasic calcium phosphate(BCP)as bone graft substitutes,and to supply experiment foundation for clinical treatment.Materials and methods: nine male New Zealand rabbits were used in the study.2central incisors were extracted in the mandibular dentition to establish animal exelcymosis models.According to the different observation time,rabbits numbered from 1 to 9 were averagely divided into 3 periods.The observation time was 4 ?8?12 weeks.According to the difference of bone graft materials,rabbits were divided into Auto-BT group,BCP group and blank control group.Sacrifice was performed after 4?8?12 weeks for histologic and histomorphometric analysis.Result: 3 to 4 days after surgery,rabbits restored normal diet and daily activities with no complications and adverse reactions.Specimens of Auto-BT group show better bone healing consequences than BCP group and blank control group.In histomorphometric analysis,there was no difference between Auto-BT group and BCP group in mineralization index at 4 ?8weeks(P>0.05).But there was significant difference between Auto-BT group and BCP group in mineralization index at 12 weeks(P<0.05).Auto-BT group had the better performance than blank control group in the rate of induce new bone formation at any time(P<0.05).But BCP group only showed faster rate than blank control group at 12 weeks(P<0.05).The results of the Goldner's dyeing observation revealed that Auto-BT can induce new bone formation effectively.And the appearance of the graft and new bone became fusion-like integration with an undistinguishable border.At 8weeks,Auto-BT materials were almost degraded completely.But even at 12 weeks,BCP group still had many residual graft material.Auto-BT Promoted more new bone formation than BCP group and blank control group in the same observation.Conclusion:1.The rabbit with both sides of central incisors extracted in the mandibular is a good animal model to research the renovation of bone defect and the osteogenetic effect of bone graft materials.2.Both Auto-BT and BCP are effective bone substitutes.But Auto-BT shows the better result than BCP in bone regenration improvement.3.Auto-BT has different degradation modes.Auto-BT integrates strongly with the newly formed bone,became fusion-like integration with an undistinguishable border and finally be replaced by new formatted bone completely.4.The Auto-BT is applied to clinical treatment as a kind of bone substitutes has a great singnificance.
