Objective:The purpose of this study was to observe whether there were differences between the clinical efficacy of sparse-dense wave and continuous wave in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods:Seventy-five patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia were randomly divided into three groups, with 25 cases in each group. Each group was needled at four acupoints:Qugu,Guanyuan,Zhongji and Henggu. The sparse-dense wave and the continuous wave group were treated by sparse-dense wave and continuous wave separately, and the blank group used normal acupuncture instead of electroacupuncture. The clinical effects of the three groups were observed before treatment,2 courses and 4 courses after treatment by using the international prostatic symptom score(IPSS),quality of life score(QOL)and the maximum urinary flow rate(Qmax)as the indexes. All the data were calculated by SPSS 22.0.Results:1.The total effective rate of the sparse-dense wave group, continuous wave group and blank group were 88.00%,75.00%and 50.00%,and significant differences exists(P<0.05).2.Before treatment, there were no significant differences in general conditions among the three groups(P>0.05),namely,the three groups were comparable.3.IPSS:Before treatment, scores of the three groups had no significant differences(P>0.05).While comparing the scores before and 2 courses after treatment of the same group, there were statistically significant differences in all the three groups(P<0.05).2 courses after treatment,sparse-dense wave group and continuous wave group had statistically significant differences(P<0.01).Comparing the scores before and 4 courses after treatment of the same group, there were statistically significant differences in all the three groups(P<0.01).4 courses after treatment,sparse-dense wave group and continuous wave group had statistically significant differences(P<0.05).While comparing the scores 2 and 4 courses after treatment in the same group, all the three groups had statistically significant differences(P<0.01).4.QOL:Before treatment, scores of the three groups:had no significant differences(P>0.05).While comparing the scores before and 2 courses after treatment of the same group, there were statistically significant differences in all the three groups(P<0.05).2 courses after treatment,sparse-dense wave group and continuous wave group had no significant differences(P>0.05).Comparing the scores before and 4 courses after treatment of the same group, there were statistically significant differences in all the three groups(P<0.01).4 courses after treatment,sparse-dense wave group and continuous wave group had statistically significant differences(P<0.05).5.Qmax:Before treatment, scores of the three groups had no significant differences(P>0.05).While comparing the scores before and 2 courses after treatment of the same group, there were statistically significant differences in all the three groups(P<0.05).2 courses after treatment,sparse-dense wave group and continuous wave group had statistically significant differences(P<0.01).Comparing the scores before and 4 courses after treatment of the same group, there were statistically significant differences in all the three groups(P<0.01).Comparing the scores before and 4 courses after treatment of the same group, there were statistically significant differences in all the three groups(P<0.01).While comparing the scores 2 and 4 courses after treatment in the same group, all the three groups had statistically significant differences(P<0.01).Conclusion:1.The clinical effect of sparse-dense wave is better than continuous wave in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.2.The effects of sparse-dense wave on the physiological and pathological site of prostate is superior to continuous wave in the improvement of IPSS,QOL and Qmax.
