Objective: In this study,we use three-dimensional reconstruction technique to recreate bony orbit models based on existing computed tomography(CT)images of the grown Han people who lived in Dalian in order to quantify and analyze the changes of their orbital bones with aging, trying to get access to some certain rules when the bones suffering from the destruction of years.Through this way,we hope we can provide some certain references for facial rejuvenation before surgery and make it possible for surgeons to propose a better operative plan and to give more precise predictions of the outcome. Methods: We randomly take 300 grown-up Hans patients' CT images of the orbit from the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University and Affiliated Xinhua Hospital of Dalian University as research samples and divide them into three groups by age. Those whose age ranging from 19 to 29 belong to youth group and from 49 to 59 belong to middle-aged group while greater than or equal 69 belong to old group. There are 50 males and 50 females each in every group. And then we make the use of a software named Materialise Mimics which is short for Materialise's Interactive Medical Image Control System to rebuild three-dimensional bony orbit models on the basis of the CT images. At this time,we use the measurement index of scholars in this field at home and abroad for reference to get the data of every left eye, including orbital aperture breadth, height, area and bony orbit volume. In the end,we take the advantage of SPSS to analyze the data with statistics.Result: According to the data including aperture breadth, height, area and orbit volume we've got from normal grown-ups,we can figure out that each average measured value of the males is greater than the corresponding value of the females in every group.Among males,it is not statistically significant in aperture breadth. What supports the view is the result of the comparison between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.097),the youth group and the old group(P=0.179),the middle-aged group and the old group(P=0.751).Similarly,it indicates that there has no obvious changes in aperture height through the result of the contrast between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.085),the youth group and the old group(P=0.064),the middle-aged group and the old(P=0.897)group.In regard to the projected area of orbital outlet plane,it is of no statistical significance according to the result of the comparison, which between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.341),the middle-aged group and the old group(P=0.132).But when it comes to the comparison between the youth group and the old group(P=0.015),the result shows an obvious increasing tendency. In terms of the orbital volume, meaningless is the result,of which the comparison between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.338),the middle-aged group and the old group(P=0.289).However,based on the result of the comparison between the youth group and the old group(P=0.045),we notice the orbital volume increases a lot, with statistical significance. And in females,we couldn't find any certain statistical connection for aperture breadth from the contrast between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.337),the youth group and the old group(P=0.559),the middle-aged group and the old group(P=0.139).Likewise,in terms of aperture height, there are no changes found through the comparison between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.056),the youth group and the old group(P=0.118),the middle-aged group and the old group(P=0.727).In the aspect of the projected area of orbital outlet plane,we couldn't find any clue to prove correlation in the comparison between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.219),the youth group and the old group(P=0.485),the middle-aged group and the old group(P=0.055).With regard to the orbit volume,it is of no value for the result of the comparison between the youth group and the old group(P=0.112),the middle-aged group and the old group(P=0.639).Nevertheless,depending on the result of the contrast between the youth group and the middle-aged group(P=0.040),we can see that the orbit volume expands a lot with age, which has statistical difference. Conclusion: The orbital bones of the Han people in Dalian still show the feature of remodeling after reaching an adult age. With the aging of body, not only the orbital outlet plane but the whole orbital region tends to expand outward. The pace and the part of bone deposition or resorption is closely related to gender and age.
