Objective:To investigate the influencing factors on short-term improvement of nasal symptoms for CRSwNP patients after functional endoscopic sinus surgery, and to provide some bases for estimating the improvement of nasal symptoms and comprehensive therapies. Methods:Retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 55 patients who had been diagnosed as CRSwNP and performed operations of FESS in No.1 Hospital of Jilin University from July 2016 to December 2016,meanwhile divided those patients into 2 groups according to the improvement of total nasal VAS score: good improved group(0 score and reducing greater than or equal to 3 points by VAS score)and poor improved group(no significant change by VAS score).Different statistical methods were used to analyze the influencing factors on short-term improvement of nasal symptoms for CRSwNP patients after functional endoscopic sinus surgery.Results:55 cases were contained in the investigation,24 patients had a good improvement of nasal symptoms in a short period, the other 31 patients were not.Gender and age had no statistically significant between the 2 improved groups(P>0.05).Smoking,allergic rhinitis, asthma and air quality had a statistically significant in different improvement groups(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that smoking, allergic rhinitis and air quality were statistically significant in different improved groups. To those patients who had poor improvements in a short period after surgery,by enhancing the postoperative medical treatments and protections, these two groups had no statistically significant 3 months later after surgery. Conclusions:Statistical analysis and clinical observation suggest that air quality may correlate with short-term improvement of nasal symptoms after functional endoscopic sinus surgery, meanwhile allergic rhinitis, smoking, and asthma may interrelate with short-term improvement of nasal symptoms after functional endoscopic sinus surgery. To those who had poor improvements in a short period after surgery,by enhancing the postoperative medical treatments and protections could alleviate nasal inflammation and relieve nasal symptoms as well.
