Professor Zhang Huailiang’s Academic Experience In The Treatment Of Vertigo With The Theory Of Wind And Fire Induced Vertigo

Objective: To summarize the academic experience of professor Zhang Huailiang for his application of Feng Huo theory to cure vertigo and to provide new idea and method for clinical treatment of vertigo and effect improvement.Methods: Literature review,find out the causes of vertigo,refer to the opinions of representative doctors on vertigo causes from Qin Han to Qing dynasty,mainly study on Liu Wansu’s Feng Huo theory.Read tutor’s academic works,collect clinic medical records and typical cases analyzed by tutor,summarize tutor’s opinion on the Feng Huo theory and the causes of vertigo,dialectic of key point and prescription medication.Result:1.Professor’s understanding on Feng Huo theory: 1)The characteristics of Fengxie caused disease are mainly disorder of Qi activity and disharmony of Ying and Wei.The characteristics of Huoxie caused disease are mainly air take-off disorder,the key of Feng Huo disease is the Qi activity.2)Tri-jiao operation of Qi is the basic function,body liquid transportation,ministerial fire movement and connection of each organ all reply on this function.Tri-Jiao Qi depression is the main reason of Tri-Jiao disease.Tri-Jiao depression and ministerial fire constraint are main causes of Feng Huo disease.The Xie invaded from outside or created from inside cause Tri-Jiao depression,ministerial fire constraint,the burning of liver form inner fire.3)Liver meridian Feng Huo is the key cause of acute vertigo.With much Feng Huo with phlegm,for some vertigo would repeatedly attack.Phlegm turbidity is the main reason.Feng Huo reverses Qi,blood rush to brain,is the pathological mechanism of extravasated blood.Feng Huo with clip stasis is the hidden cause of vertigo.Phlegm turbidity and blood stasis stalemate are pathological mechanism for vertigo’s repeated attack.4)Dredging Tri-Jiao and regulating the Qi flowing are basic treatment principles on Feng Huo vertigo.Basic clinical medicine is Xuanda drink.2.Typical classification of Feng Huo vertigo: 1)liver meridian Feng Re causing mental confusion 2)Xie invading Shao Yang,Feng Hu disturbing upwards 3)liver meridian Feng Huo causing mental confusion 4)Feng Huo with phlegm causing mental confusion 5)Feng Huo with phlegm stagnation causing mental confusion.Conclusion: Professor Zhang Hualiang’s dialectical idea on vertigo is clear,Feng Huo theory could support to guide clinical practice and improve clinical effect.
