| Purpose:By studying the effect of physician personality traits on medical decision-makingfrom the perspective of psychology and using the method of questionnaire survey and data comparison analysis,to explore how can physiciansmake more professional and scientific medical decisions in ethical dilemma;and proposes improvement solutions to solve the problems in medical decision-making process.Methods: This research mainly uses questionnaire survey and data comparison analysis,supplemented by literature review and scale survey methods.Firstly,consult the literature,books and policy documents,accurately understand the concept of ethical dilemmas,medical decisions,the personality traitstheory,then integrate and analyze the famous viewsto form a basic theoretical framework;secondly,referring to the mature personality traits questionnaire and counseling psychology professors,selected the “China Big Five Personality Scale Lite” as a scale for the personality trait dimension of this study;three,with the help of the mentors and literature readings,a medical decision-making questionnaire was prepared.After two pre-surveys,the final questionnaire was confirmed.Only these in-service doctorswho have already qualified as a practicing doctor or an assistant doctor to be surveyed,in this study583 questionnaires were distributed,including 200 paper questionnaires and 383 online questionnaires,thereare53.3%fromGuangdong Province and 41.62% of Henan Province To study the correlation between different personality characteristics and medical decision-making in ethical dilemmas,T-tests,variance analysis,and multiple linear regression analysis were performed on the questionnaire data by SPSS19.0.Results :1.There are significant differences in physician gender,age,family status,income.2.There is no significant difference in the cognition of coping styles between doctors’ personality traits and decision-making conflicts(F=0.671 p=0.645).‘agreeableness’ influence physicians’ cognition of medical decision-making subjects and cognition of right to life and autonomy;‘conscientiousness’ personality traits influence physicians’ cognition of evaluation on medical decision-making effectiveness,cognition of responsibility for decision-making conflicts,cognition of coping methods in decision conflicts,and cognition of right to life and autonomy of choice;‘extroversion’ personality traits influence physicians’ cognition of medical decision-making subjects,cognition of medical decision-making subjects when family opinions are disagreeing,and cognition of medical ethics and law,cognition of coping methods in decision conflicts,cognition of right to health and privacy;‘neuroticism’ influence physicians’ understanding of medical ethics and law : ‘openness’ influence physicians’ cognition of coping strategies in decision conflicts,and physicians’ cognition of health rights and privacy rights.Conclusion: In summary,the personality characteristics of physicians have an impact on medical decision making in ethical dilemmas。 At present,doctors in China don’t pay enough attention to medical decision-making in ethical dilemma.The government unit lacks effective rules and regulations.Physicians are severely affected by personality characteristics when dealing with medical decisions in ethical dilemmas.Physicians with different personality characteristics make completely different decisions in the face of the same predicament,and it cannot be tolerated in clinical medicine.In the article,the author puts forward several suggestions:(1)To provide differential training for physicians with different personality;(2)To adjust personnel collocation and reduce the risk of decision-making;(3)Help professionals deal with ethical problems.(4)To improve the health care system,laws and regulations in order to ease ethical conflicts. |
