| The concept of palliative care is to respect life, follow the laws of life and death, and pursue death with dignity, peace, and painlessness. As China enters an ageing phase and has more patients at the end of its lives, palliative care has become an increasingly popular choice for them. However, due to subjective and objective factors, the development of palliative care has met with considerable obstacles,in China.Objectively, first, palliative care has problems in the construction of disciplines, team building, and department building.Second, lack of financial support and legal protection.Third, the medical insurance system and the medical assistance system are not perfect.Subjectively, first, due to factors such as traditional culture and strained doctor-patient relationship, citizens have little or even misunderstood palliative care, and there are also phenomena of “overtreatment”.Second, patients and their families choose home care because of economic factors. The patient was "forced to give up treatment" and suffered a lot. There are also some ethical dilemmas in the development of palliative care.First, the game of quality of life and the sacred theory of life;Second, the patient’s informed consent is difficult to achieve;Third, patient autonomy and family decisions are difficult to balance;Fourth,Pain medications have a "double effect." So how can we find a way to promote localized palliative care in China where atheism is dominant? As we all know, the hospice care originally originated from Christianity’s concept of loving kindness.Palliative care evolved from hospice care. Its philosophy is similar to hospice care, but its scope is even greater.Linking the end-of-life care service, which was born under the western Christian culture system, with the Confucian “Benevolence” thought. With the guidance of Confucian "benevolence" thought, which is the orthodox ethical thought of our country for thousands of years, finding a way out for palliative care has certain research value.First, adhere to the basic principles of medical ethics;second, raise awareness of palliative care;third, improve the referral system;fourth, improve medical insurance and medical assistance;and fifth, strengthen legal protection.Give full play to the role of palliative care and promote the development of human medicine. |
