The Study On Zhang Zhong-Jing's He Therapeutic Method

Objective:He therapeutic method is the most characteristic,but controversial treatment in the eight therapeutic methods,with its connotation and extension has not been determined.He therapeutic method originates in the Treatise on Febrile Diseases,being formed based on the study of Xiaochaihu Decoction and Shaoyang disease.However,among discussions of later doctors,most of them ignored Zhang Zhong-jing's theory of He and even confused it with later expending meanings,which made the concept of He therapeutic method in Chinese medicine more complicated and confusing.Based on the principle of returning to Zhang Zhong-jing's books,this study aims to summarize Zhang Zhong-jing's theory of He and clarify its connotation and denotation so as to promote Zhongjing's academic thought and the theory of He therapeutic method in TCM,and provide theoretical support for the clinical application of He therapeutic method.Methods:This study collected,classified and Collated the documents and materials of ancient and modern artificial inspection about He thought and He therapeutic method through Artificial retrieval and computer retrieval,and the study has summarized He thought both in Chinese culture and Huang Di Nei Jing and Clarified the process of development of He therapeutic method in TCM.This project focuses on the He theory in Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Golden Chamber.Using the method of the unity of logic and history and combining literature research methods such as exegesis,induction and comparative,the study classified articles containing the word of”He”in these two books and summed up Zhang Zhong-jing's He theory and his concept of He therapeutic method and contrasted it with the definition of later doctors.Result:He therapeutic method originated in the concept of reconciliation between Interior and Exterior proposed by Cheng Wu-ji,and gradually developed into the reconciliation of Shaoyang and reconciling the cold and heat,Qi and blood,yin and Yang,Zang organs and Fu organs.Zhang Zhong-jing inherited the He thought of Chinese culture and Huang Di Nei Jingan,and he proposed his own He theory including the harmony between man and nature,harmonious color and pulse,harmonious stomach Qi,the harmony between Ying and Wei,the harmony between Interior and Exterior,the harmony of Triple Energizer,the harmony of Body fluid and the He therapeutic method.He Therapeutic method includes the following three aspects: first,the moderate diaphoresis method on behalf of Guizhi Decoction;second,the light and moderate purgative method,which is represented by Xiaochengqi Decoction and Tiaowei chengqi Decoction;third,the method of eliminating phlegm with warm medicine,which is represented by Linggui Zhugan Decoction and Shenqi pill.The later doctors had also developed many representative formulations from Zhang Zhong-jing including Xiaochaihu Decoction reconciling Shaoyang,Gegen qinlian Decoction and guizh irenshen Decoction reconciling Interior and Exterior,Guizhi Decoction reconciling Ying Qi and Wei Qi,Sini powder reconciling liver and spleen,Banxia xiexin Decoction and Wumei Pill reconciling cold and heat etc.Conclusion:Zhang Zhong-jing has proposed rich He theory including the He therapeutic method,which refers to the slow and light diaphoresis and purgative method as well as the slow elimination of phlegm.Its essence is a method of moderate treatment.In addition,the method of eliminating phlegm using warming medicine has gone beyond the eight therapeutic methods,which includes sweating,vomiting,purgative reconciliation,warming,cleaning,eliminating and nourishing.it should be noted that Zhang Zhong-jing's He therapeutic method can not be put into the same lever as other therapeutic method like sweating,vomiting and purgative,but this treatment can be applied in many diseases such as chronic,light symptoms and so on.
