Objective: To explore the expression and significance of Th17/Treg balance and chemokine CCL20 in peripheral blood of patients with chronic periodontitis(CP).Method: A total of 82 patients with CP were secleted as the observation group.Including 46 patients were classified as mild to moderate and 36 patients as severe, and 33 healthy persons as the control group. The levels of Th17/Treg cells in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry. In addition,42 patients with chronic periodontitis and 30 patients with periodontal health were selected from them. The protein expression of IL-17,TGF-?,CCL20 and CCR6 was detected by ELISA and analysis of the relationship with the degree of disease inflammation. Results:The ratio of Th17 cells,Th17/Treg,IL-17,CCL20 and CCR6 in the observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).The expression of Treg cells and TGF-?in the observation group was lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The expression of Th17 was statistically significant in the control group,mild-to-moderate group and severe group(P<0.05).The difference of Treg expression between the control group and the moderately mild group was statistically significant,so were the control group and the severe group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the mild-to-moderate group and the severe group(P>0.05).Pearson correlation analysis indicated that the expression of Th17 and Th17/Treg ratio were positively correlated with PD,and the expression of Treg was negatively correlated with PD.The expression of CCL20 was positively correlated with Th17 and IL-17(P<0.05)and the expression of Th17 was negatively correlated with Treg(P<0.05).Concousion: In patients with chronic periodontitis,Th17 expression is increased in peripheral blood,Treg level is weakened and CCR6-CCL20 may be involved in the imbalance of Th17/Treg ratio which promote the occurrence and development of CP.
