[Objective]:To investigate the expression of Lgr5 and?-catenin in superficial gastritis, atrophic gastritis(precancerous lesions),gastric cancer. To estimate the association of the two proteins expression with clinicopathologic features of gastric cancer and the correlation between the Lgr5 and?-catenin expression in gastric cancer, which may provide a new perspective for clinical diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.[Methods]:Pathological specimens of 80 cases of gastric cancer,30 cases of superficial gastritis, and 30 cases of atrophic gastritis(precancerous lesions)were collected from the Jiaxing First Hospital from January 2012 to December 2017.All these specimens were examined by immunohistochemistry for Lgr5 and?-catenin protein expression.Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 17.0.Differences in protein expression of Lgr5 and?-catenin between the groups were tested by chi-square test and Fisher's exact probability test, and correlation between expression levels of the two proteins in gastric cancer tissues were tested by chi-square test.[Results]:1.The expression of Lgr5 and?-catenin in superficial gastritis was significantly different from those in atrophic gastritis(precancerous lesions)and gastric cancer(?~2=12.937,13.654,P<0.05 for both).2.Lg5 expression in gastric cancer was significantly correlated with histological differentiation and TNM stage(P<0.05 for both).?-catenin expression in gastric cancer was significantly correlated with lymphatic metastasis and TNM stage(P<0.05 for both).3.The correlation of Lgr5 and?-catenin expression in gastric cancer was observed(P<0.05).[Conclusion]:The expression of Lgr5 and?-catenin are correlated, revealing their correlation in the occurrence of gastric cancer. The combined detection of the two proteins can be used as a marker for gastric cancer screening, which has important clinical significance for the targeted treatment of gastric cancer.
