Study On The Quality Evaluation And Antioxidant Activity Of Clausenae Lansii Folium

The Clausenae lansii folium,was the dried leaf of the Clausena lansium(Lour.)Skeels who was a member from Rutaceae family.It possessed pungent flavor and cool property and exhibited the efficacy such as coursing wind and resolving the exterior,eliminating phlegm and promoting Qi,diuretic as well as detoxification.It could mainly treat body heat of epidemic febrile disease,cough and asthma,abdominal pain caused by flatulence,general edema with yellowish of skin,malaria,difficulty in micturition and heat poison scabies.Modern pharmacological studies have found that the Clausenae lansii folium had the biological activities of protecting liver,protecting nerve and promoting intelligence.Clausena lansium folium was native to tropical and subtropical regions of China.Wild Clausena lansium folium was mainly distributed in Fujian,Guangdong,Guangxi,Hainan,southern Guizhou,Yunnan,Sichuan Jinsha River Valley and Taiwan.At present,there were widespread cultivation in Guangdong and Guangxi areas.It was a medicinal and edible homologous plant with really rich resource.Clausenae lansii folium had a long history of medicinal use,so that it was collected in both ancient and modern Chinese herbal medicine literatures.Generally,it was more widely used in folk society.In recent years,although researchers at home and abroad have paid extensive attention to the study of Clausenae lansii folium,the most studied concentrated on the activity of lansenamide in protecting liver and promoting intelligence.Although lansenamide had entered the clinical stage as a new drug against Alzheimer's disease,the comprehensive research on Clausenae lansii folium had not received enough attention.At present,there were still few reports on the quality standards of Clausenae lansii folium and their antioxidant activities.Lack of perfect quality control standards and basic research on antioxidant activity,would serious restrict the further comprehensive development and utilization of Clausenae lansii folium.In order to establish and improve the systematic quality control standard of Clausenae lansii folium as well as promote the further comprehensive development and utilization of Clausenae lansii folium,in this study,thin-layer chromatography,high performance liquid chromatography and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry were used to identify and determine the total flavonoids,alkaloids and their main chemical constituents and content determination of Clausenae lansii folium from different producing area.In addition,DPPH,FRAP and in vitro antioxidant methods were used to preliminary explore the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract from Clausenae lansii folium,evaluation of antioxidant activity of ethanol extract from Clausenae lansii folium.In this paper,a method for the determination of flavonoids and alkaloids in Clausenae lansii folium was established by the means of modern chromatographic and spectroscopy techniques.A TLC method for identifying the main chemical constituents of Clausenae lansii folium was also established.In vitro antioxidant activity of DPPH and FRAP showed that the ethanol extract of Clausenae lansii folium had potent antioxidant activity and confirmed potential alternative of natural antioxidants by quantifying its antioxidant efficacy.The contents of flavonoids and alkaloids in Clausenae lansii folium from different producing area were quite different,the antioxidant activity of their ethanol extracts were also different.These differences might be closely related to soil,geography,weather and harvesting season of plant.This study enriched and improved the identification and analysis methods of Clausenae lansii folium,thus,provided theoretical basis for establishing and perfecting the quality control standard of Clausenae lansii folium and promoting the further comprehensive development and utilization of Clausenae lansii folium.
