Objective:Through the measurement of bone mineral density(BMD)in different parts of postmenopausal women of different ages, the bone mass loss of postmenopausal women was analyzed. The difference of the detection rate of osteoporosis in different parts of BMD was discussed. The prone to osteoporosis in women through the thoracic and lumbar lateral X-ray examination, analysis of its predilection site, combined with the fall risk assessment and fall related questionnaires to explore the risk factors for falls in the elderly and the importance of preventing falls.Better guide the screening, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women in clinical work. Methods:The BMD value of postmenopausal women in Xiaodian District of Taiyuan City decreased significantly with the increase of menopausal years. The prevalence of osteoporosis was as high as 51.54%.The analysis results were closely related to age and menopausal age.The measurement results of DXA in different parts existed difference, which is related to individual differences and measurement methods. The T-value of lumbar vertebrae combined with femoral neck has a higher detection rate for osteoporosis and can be used for clinical screening.X-ray examination of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae for the screening of vertebral fractures has simple and economical characteristics and should be applied to the physical examination of the elderly. The prevalence of vertebral fractures in this region is 18.08%,and there is a high risk of falls. Results:The prevalence of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women is high, and the treatment of osteoporosis in this population cannot be ignored.Bone mineral density screening and vertebral fracture screening should be performed to achieve early detection, diagnosis, and early treatment. In addition to the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, measures should be taken to prevent falls and reduce the incidence of fractures.
