Objcctive: To investigate the effect of urinary tract infection(UTI)on international prostate symptom score(IPSS)and quality of life(QOL)scores in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).In order to clarify the credibility of the symptom score results in patients with BPH are accompanied by UTI.Methods:BPH patients admitted to the urology department of the affiliated hospital of qinghai university from September 2017 to September 2018 who met the inclusion criteria were selected for IPSS and QOL scoring, and the scoring items were classified according to the severity of symptoms and infection-related symptoms.Urine routine examination, urine bacterial culture, urine flow mechanics and other examinations were performed within 24 hours after admission, and the test indicators were recorded. Finally, correlation statistical methods were used for analysis.Results:(1)The mean values of IPSS and QOL scores in the infected group were higher than those in the non-infected group, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant(p<0.05).(2)The mean values of the total scores of 2 and 4 items and other items in the IPSS of the infected group were higher than those of the non-infected group, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant(p<0.05).(3)The proportion of severe obstruction in the infected group was the highest(62.2%),and the proportion of moderate obstruction in the non-infected group was the highest(64.8%).Statistical analysis showed that there was a statistical difference in the degree of obstructive symptoms between the two groups(p<0.05).(4)After Pearson correlation analysis,IPSS and QOL scores were positively correlated;positive correlation with both IPSS and QOL scores was prostate volume and residual urine(PVR),and the negative correlation was the maximum urine flow rate(Qmax); The volume of the prostate is positively correlated with prostate bladder protrusion(IPP).Conclusions:(1)when patients with BPH were associated with UTI,the scores of IPSS and QOL would be increased, and the severity of LUTS described by patients and the guiding significance of IPSS in the evaluation of BPH symptoms should be viewed objectively.(2)Regardless of UTI,there was a strong positive correlation between IPSS and QOL scores. The severity of symptoms and the score of infection-related symptoms were classified for IPSS items, and the results were consistent with the overall score.
