Objective: To observe and analyze the effect of preoperative targeted drugs combined with reduced chemotherapy on the efficacy of hypopharyngeal cancer treatment, and provide new ideas for the treatment of hypopharyngeal cancer.Method: Fifty patients with hypopharyngeal cancer who were initially treated in our department from October 2015 to October 2019.Adopt EGFR monoclonal antibody combined with reduced chemotherapy regimen for 2 cycles.According to the effect after treatment, choose radiotherapy, laryngeal function retention surgery or total laryngectomy. After the comprehensive treatment, the patient's status is regularly followed up by telephone or follow-up.Descriptive statistical methods were used to calculate tumor response rate, laryngeal function retention rate, and incidence of adverse reactions;Kaplan-Meier method was used to statistically analyze patient survival rates.Result: The tumor response rate(CR+PR)was 76.0% after applying targeted drugs combined with a reduced-dose chemotherapy regimen,4 of 50 patients had grade 3 or grade 4 absolute decrease in neutrophils, and the other adverse reactions were grade 1 or grade 2 after medication.Of the 50 patients,41(82.0%)patients were treated with surgery,22 patients underwent total laryngectomy and partial hypopharyngectomy(44.0%),and 19 patients(38.0%)underwent laryngeal function-saving surgery;the remaining 9 patients(18.0%)received further radiotherapy after medication.Laryngeal function retainers accounted for 56% of the total enrolled patients.A total of 33 patients were followed up for 2 years, and the 2-year cumulative survival rate was 75.4%.Conclusion: Preoperative application of targeted drugs combined with a reduced chemotherapy regimen can reduce the tumor grade of hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma with minimal side effects and does not affect the subsequent treatment process.Preoperative drug application can improve the laryngeal function retention rate in patients with intermediate and advanced hypopharyngeal cancer;it can reduce the extent of local resection, reduce the proportion of total hypopharyngeal resection, and reduce the degree of damage to patients;it can reduce the invasion of metastatic lymph nodes and improve the effect of neck dissection.
