With the methods of phonetic experiment and intelligibility judgment,this paper examines the acoustical features and performance of errors of the nine Mandarin vowels[a][i][u][y][?][(?)][?][?][(?)]by the learners of Arabian countries who are divided into the primary group and senior-middle group.It analyses the reasons of errors combined with the theories about second language acquisition.This paper includes two experiments:the first one,from phonetic comparison and acoustic measurement,using the vowel pattern theory of Mr.Shi Feng,we find the similarities and differences between Arab monophthongs and Chinese monophthongs.These findings are the basis to analysis causes of errors of Arab learners.The experimental results show that,mother tongue could cause transfer during the learning process,especially that the smaller openness caused negative transfers.The second experiment investigated the acquisition of Chinese vowels by Arab learners.This part,14 Arab Chinese learner were divided into two groups——primary group and senior-middle group,and then,we using voice software to analyse the recording data of the two groups respectively,mapping the phonological figures individually and patterns totally.With the basis of previous research results about Chinese vowels phonological figures and pattern diagram,we can get a comparative analysis conclusion,and describe the details between different learning level about their personality and common.On the other side,the second experiment also get a acoustic verification about vowel[(?)]with two pronunciations——/ar/?/(?)r/,we agree on this opinion and investigated the acquisition of learning two allophones based on this view.Synthesized the two experiments,we ordered these vowels in terms of acquisition difficulty:[i]<[a]<[o]?[y]<[?]?[?]<[(?)]<[u]?[(?)],in these vowels,smaller openness and non-standard tongue position are obvious problems for[(?)].Learners in senior-middle group get a better grasp on the pronunciation of[y]and[?].In the learning process,learners made little progress on[u]and[?],and the two vowels shown the tendency of phonetic fossilization.The main problem of[o]is lacke stability.Learners in second group have completed the acquisition of[i]and[a].Based on the experimental findings,the thesis come to the conclusion that language transfer,intralingual error,learning strategy and phonetic fossilization causing the errors.We puts forward some teaching suggestions and several teaching suggestions for remedial training at the end of the study.
