| This thesis is a report of simulated English to Chinese consecutive interpreting of the Lecture of Malala Yousafzai at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in 2014.The report consists of four chapters. The first chapter is task description. It introduces Malala Yousafzai and the background of the prize as well as the accents of Indian-English and vocabulary involved. The second chapter deals with process description, including pre-interpreting preparation which contains the features and requirements of public speech, simulated process and the assessment after interpreting. The third chapter involves the theoretical framework and case analysis. This part, guided by Daniel Gile’s “Effort Model of Consecutive Interpreting†and the theory of Rozan, Jean-Francois---“Seven Steps of Note-taking in Consecutive Interpretationâ€, analyzes some typical cases involved in four procedures, namely, listening and analysis, note-taking, short-term memory and long-term memory as well as target-language production to illustrate the proper distribution of efforts in consecutive interpreting. The fourth chapter is conclusion. In this chapter, the author summarizes her gains and experiences after this simulated task. |
