In recent years, with the intensification of friction between China and Japan and the deterioration of bilateral relations, there is a worsening tendency as regards the mutual impression of the two countries on each other, especially for the former's impression on the latter. The academicians argue that,to some extent, this is inseparable from the impact of the Japanese media's propaganda report. As for the Japanese media reports on China, both quantitative and qualitative studies have been done on Japanese television media and newspaper media from the perspective of intelligence sociology,cross-cultural exchange, journalism, etc. However, studies are rarely found which are oriented to Japanese online media reports of China and explore the mechanism behind from the perspective of Lippmann's public opinion.Since the 1990s,the circulation of newspapers has been declining, and the major newspapers have begun to pay attention to news transmission based on online media and set up their own news websites. In the era of rapid development of information technology, considering the development and popularization of multimedia, the research of internet news media deserve particular attention. With the Japanese internet media's reports on China's "two sessions" as the focus,it's helpful for us to deeply understand the principles behind the Japanese media coverage of China with the ultimate use of public opinion view after summing up the characteristics of its reports, the impact of the Japanese impression on China, thus gaining deep excavation of the causes of Japanese network media reports of China. With reports on China's "two sessions" as the object, the present study focuses on two mainstream online news media in Japan, namely,Asahi Digital and Sankei news websites, and corresponding analyses would be made by virtue of Lippmann's theory of public opinion. The way in which Japanese internet media report Chinese political activities needs figuring out while referring to existing relative research on or achievement in such an area.By summarizing the characteristics and doubts of their reports, and analyzing the impression such reports leave on Japanese about Chinese,it is hoped that reasons for which the aforementioned features come into being would be demystified. The first chapter mainly discusses the application of Lippmann's theory of public opinion to the study of online media reports.First of all,on the basis of defining the scope of the paper,a general picture is shown about the development history, transmission characteristics and usage of online media represented by Asahi Digital and Sankei News websites.Besides, elaboration on the core conception of pseudo-environment and stereotype in Lippmann's public opinion was presented. Finally,it is expounded that the general principle of Lippmann's theory of public opinion in news transmission is also applicable to the present media reports. The second chapter mainly focuses on the Japanese media reports on China and the specific cases of the impact on awareness in order to understand the role of Japanese online media reports on China. The selected case is the relevant Japanese internet news media reports on China's "two sessions".We collect all the reports of the twelfth "two sessions" of China from the two resources'and use the table to show its overall situation. At the same time,we select the typical news reports which are representative, and analyze the contents of the text. This paper points out that the reports' downsides tend to be obvious and the reports are not fair or objective. The reports are not rigorous or comprehensive either. Finally, through the investigation of the Japanese young people who are deeply influenced by the internet media, this paper discusses the impact on the Japanese impression on the Chinese caused by the online media. In the third chapter, based on the characteristics of online media, reasons for the formation of Japanese internet media's reports on China is analyzed with the use of Lippmann's theory of public opinion. On the one hand, from the point of view of Lippmann,we can see that"pseudo-environment" and "stereotyped prejudice" lead to the result that real public opinion is nowhere to be found. So under the influence of public opinion, the internet news reports which completely reflecting the fact can't be formed. On the other hand, the Japanese media's reports on China was controlled for the purpose of Japanese national interests. The Japanese government contributes to the trend of media's reports in the methods of manipulating information, screening and choosing information. Finally, the interaction mechanism,or rather, the constraining relationship, between news reports and public opinion is delineated, that is,reports induce public opinion and reversely public opinion guides reports.Following that, reasons why there are so many problems in Japanese online media's reports on China are unfolded.Since media reports themselves are in a dynamic process of change, the study of the report needs changing.Based on the analyses of the specific cases and the reasons for the formation of the discriminative reports mentioned above, this paper summarizes the two characteristics of the Japanese online media coverage in China, namely, selective reporting and homogeneity.Selective report refers to the Japanese online media's prejudiced choice of the theme which emphasizes the faced negative situation of plight and social problems in China, exaggerates the differences in ideologies and the strengthening of China's military power to render the "China Threat Theory."Homogeneous reporting refers to that the difference between Asahi Digital and Sankei News'coverage of China is no longer significant compared to that in the past. And the tendency of reporting has gradually converged, which means that the negative attitudes of reports towards China are ubiquitous.According to this we can see the overall situation of Japanese media's coverage of China.
