The Study On Non-standard Forms Of Chinese Characters In Rhyming Za Zi Of Ming Dynasty

Za Zi is a kind of elementary textbook to popularize education including basic Chinese characters and general knowledge among the children,scholars,peasants,workers and businessmen which is different from the official elementary textbooks like Three Character Classic,Book of Family Names and Qian Zi Wen.It is valuable to research into Za Zi in the linguistic view because of its multifarious contents and extensive vocabulary.Therefore,the study on non-standard forms of Chinese characters in rhyming Za Zi of Qing dynasty is a great possibility on the basis of its diverse and popular Chinese characters.On the other hand,researches into non-standard forms of Chinese characters are important works in the field of traditional Chinese language studies.However,the researches seem to be monotonous due to their limited subjects.I think the study on non-standard forms of Chinese characters in rhyming Za Zi of Qing dynasty is the good evidence,complement and revision to corpus as well as theories.This dissertation discusses the categories,sources,development and values of 133 non-standard forms of Chinese characters in 17 rhyming Za Zi of Qing dynasty through specific screening,collecting,statistics and philological summary.In comparison with previous theories,this dissertation makes general conclusions about non-standard forms of Chinese characters in rhyming Za Zi of Qing dynasty in order to evaluate the nature and values of the rhyming Za Zi of Qing dynasty from the non-standard forms of Chinese characters studies' perspective.
