An Analysis Of The Time View Of Don Delillo's Novels From The Perspective Of Narratology

The individual's sense of time is related to the individual's living condition.In postmodern society,the individual's view of time is influenced by social economy,science and technology culture,consumer society and mass media,showing the characteristics of time desalination,fragmentation and instantaneousization.Don Delillo's The Body Artist and Point Omega express a sense of vigilance and reflection on the concept of time by describing the living conditions of artists living in the marginal margins of society.This paper takes Don Delillo's The Body Artist and Point Omega as the object of study.It studies the narration characteristic of from the views of the narrator,plot,space,analysize the presentation of the time in the two novels by the perspective of narratology.The preface briefly introduces the creation of Don Delillo's novels.After that,the preface analyzes and summarizes the research situation of Don Delillo in the United States and China.Finally,it expounds the ideas and research method of this paper.Chapter ? to Chapter ? is the body of this paper.Chapter ? analyzes the influence of the narrator's position and the narrator's reliability on the narrative time from the narrator's point of view.Chapter ? analyzes the plot characteristics of the novel,explores the influence of the post-modern time view on the plot of the novel and the presentation of the narrative time through the plot of novel.Chapter ?analyzes the relationship of the spaces and the projection from space to the time.The conclusion summarizes the influence of postmodern time view in the novel on individual life and the confrontation between individual and the time,revealing the importance of time sense to individual in postmodern society.
