The source text of this translation report is an excerpt from the book Story Collection by Mongolian Story-teller Chaogeribu which is a national folk story collection told by the Mongolian story-teller Mr.Chaogeribu orally and recorded by others,and then straightened out and published.The translation work of this collection has broad social significance,for it not only shows that we attach importance to the protection of Chinese traditional culture,but also a kind of promotion work to make Chinese culture one part of the world heritage treasury,and furthermore,it provides some references for the foreigner readers and scholars to know and research Chinese culture.The translation work is helpful for the world to know China better and to strengthen our literal influence worldwide.The theoretical guides of the translation are mainly Vermeer's Skopos theory and Venuti's foreignization translation theory.The main purpose of this translation task is to spread Chinese splendid cultures,and therefore,any translation strategies serving for this purpose could be used.As for conveying the cultural element,the foreignization strategy is mainly used.This report consists of five parts: the first part is the introduction part focusing on the brief introduction to the author Mr.Chaogerebu and the purpose and significance of this translation task;the second part is the description of the translation task itself,including the analyses of the source text and the introduction to the requirements from the entrusting party;the third part deals with the implementation of the task,including the specific work in before-translation,while-translation and after-translation procedures,among which,in the before-translation part,mainly introduces the preparation for background information,the choices of the translation tools and strategies and the formulation of the glossary and etc.;the forth part focuses on some analyses of typical translation cases,including the translation of the culture-loaded words,idioms and four-word phrases,doggerels and ballads and some cultural anecdotes;the fifth part is the conclusion,covering the analyses of unsolved problems and the implication the author gets from this task.Translation is a comprehensive and complicated task,as for the translator,which not only related to the command of the two languages,but also to the comprehensive knowledge accumulation.Hopefully this translation task could provide some helpful references to the translation learning and practice in the future for the author.
