In recent years,the population aging has continuously worsened,the proportion of elder groups has sharply increased,and the creation of elder themed documentaries has been prosperous accordingly,which includes the excellent works such as Last House Standing,Old Jing with His Regular Customers,etc.However,compared to the annually increasing number of documentary films in our country,as well as the aging population proportion that cannot be ignored,the number of elder themed documentaries is still insufficient generally,and the story selections tend to be assimilated,which cannot reflect the real life of contemporary elder groups.In this paper,the social background of the increasingly serious aging population in recent years is analyzed,and the film creation of the growing but still lacking documentaries on elderly theme as well as the current situation of academic research are arranged.The necessity of exploring and studying this theme is illustrated,and the narrative techniques of documentaries with the elderly theme are analyzed by combining with the author's personal degree work Old Jiang is Quite Busy.Through different creation techniques in the documentaries with the elderly theme,the image construction of the elderly are investigated from the aspects of narrative perspective,shot presentation and emotional sublimation;the representation of “real-life reality” is explored by means of presence and limited intervention;finally,the whole film Old Jiang is Quite Busy is interpreted and reflected on from the aspects such as the clue selection of the story,emotional resonance and views expression.It is expected that the views and techniques demonstrated in this paper can provide help for practitioners and researchers of documentaries and that documentaries with the elderly theme will be more flourishing in film creation and textual study.
