Updating is one of the core components of Central Executive Function,which is the process of continually updating information in Working Memory through the replacement of old information by new information,according the requirements of the current task for the individual.The updating function plays an crucial important role in daily life.It is found that intrinsic motivation is an important factor that influences the effect of updating function.However,few studies have explored directly on the relationship between training effect and intrinsic motivation.The present study intends to explore the internal factors that influence the training of updating function from the achievement motivation factor.In study one,a 14-days updating function training was conducted on adults with high and low achievement motivation and adopted the difficulty adaptive n-back tasks.The result showed that the training scores of the high achievement motivation group were significantly higher than those with low achievement motivation.Study two also used the difficulty adaptive n-back tasks and conducted a 14-day training on the adults with high and low achievement motivation,and utilized a series of transfer tasks to assess the transfer effect after training.The results suggested that the scores of the groups with high achievement motivation were significantly higher than the group with low achievement motivation.Besides,it was showed that the transfer effect of the high achievement motivation group on the accuracy of the 3-back task was notably higher than group with low achievement motivation,reflecting a near-transfer training effect.Furthermore,the training effect of the high and low achievement motivation groups did not have a notably far-transfer effect on the fluid intelligence.In summary,These results support a modulatory role of achievement motivation on training and partial transfer effects and might suggest way to enhance the validity of cognitive training programs.
