On The Application Of Static Equivalence And Dynamic Equivalence Strategy To Translation Of Legislative Texts

This is a translation report on the translation project of America Invents Act.Based on a brief introduction of the newly-signed law,the author lists the problems involved in the process of translation as well as the plans to solve them.Upon the analysis of legislative texts,the report then discusses the applicability of two translation strategies in legal translation.Owing to the characteristics of legal text,the author holds that it is valuable to explore the effectiveness of dynamic equivalence and static equivalence translation strategies.By adopting and comparing those strategies,the main part of the thesis is an analysis of their advantages and disadvantages in the translation of terms,sentences and paragraphs.Through a systematic comparison and analysis,combined with the basic principles of legal translation,the author believes that the static equivalence strategy should be used as much as possible.
