This is a translation project report on the arbitration case Hochtief vs.Argentine Republic.The case issubmitted to the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes(ICSID),established under the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes Between States and Nationals of Other States.The original text is an arbitration decision on jurisdiction.This report,containing four chapters,will introducethe difficulties encountered during translationand solutions adopted by the author.And the focus will on such methods used to translate long sentences as “division and subordination”,inversion and so on.Meanwhile,without prejudice to consistency of translation with the original text,the languagefeatures and styles of the original arbitration text has been largely retained.The author attempts to summarize the difficulties encountered,as well as introduce the relevant solutions in the hope that subsequent translation could draw lessons from this report.
