In the history of contemporary film development in Hong Kong,Peter Chan is undoubtedly a benchmark filmmaker.Peter Chan is very special among the directors of Hong Kong literary and art films;although Wong Kar Wai,Xu Anhua and Peter Chan are also literary and artistic directors,Peter Chan is different from Wong Kar Wai and Xu Anhua because his films are both artistic and commercial,and his success depends largely on his focus and pursuit of the market,but he has also been criticized for his obsessive attention to the market,which has prevented him from becoming a top director.Therefore,his path to transformation is highly controversial.This paper,based on Peter Chan's film especially the film after the transformation as the research object,explores how to strike a balance between artistic expression,personal feelings and audience identification after the Hong Kong literature and art film directors going northward,and explores how to effectively mediate the contradiction between art and commercialization of literary films representing the spirit of Hong Kong film spirit,to provide some thinking for the transformation of directors going north and the future of Hong Kong films.This paper discusses the transformation background,transformation embodiment,transformation strategy and unfinished comments.First of all,this paper analyzes the background of Peter Chan's film transformation from Hong Kong films,especially the plight of the present literary and artistic films,and then focuses on Peter Chan's transformation in the narrative level and cultural feelings of film.After the transformation,Peter Chan has been developing towards a pluralistic direction in the film narrative.This part focuses on the three narrative levels of love,nation and history.On the level of cultural feelings,this part discusses multiple care in contemporary society in Peter Chan's films after the transformation from three angles of cultural nomad and the public recognition,nostalgia culture identity and criticism and reflection of human nature.On the transformation strategy,this paper focuses on the research of Peter Chan's balance between popularization and individualization,and analyzes the diverse commercial attractions of the movie and the spiritual ideas behind it from three angles of the audience.market and the film aesthetic expression.Finally,this paper discusses the possibility and limitations of the transformation of Peter Chan as a representative of Hong Kong filmmakers to the north,and puts forward some countermeasures for the reconstruction of Hong Kong movie brand and the Chinese films brand construction.
