With the continuous reform of higher education teaching in China,great changes have taken place in traditional education teaching model.One of the most obvious feature is the change from teacher-centered model to student-centered model,which will completely break the teaching model in colleges and universities.Based on the employment environment for college students,the cultivation of students'autonomous English learning ability is the compulsory choice for them to enter the future career field.However,English teaching in colleges and universities is currently implemented mainly in the form of teaching by teachers,which neglects the cultivation of students' autonomous learning ability in colleges and universities and violates the education goal of cultivating innovative talents.As innovative talents must grasp the ability to learn independently,it is necessary to build a career-oriented autonomous learning model for college English learners.This paper selects some college students and front-line teachers from two universities in Nantong as the survey subject.Based on the questionnaire survey,the guidance of relevant theories and the research findings at home and abroad,the paper investigates the contents,current situation and exiting problems and reasons of career-oriented autonomous learning model for college English and puts forward the measures to improve the model.The research ideas and contents of the paper are summarized as follows:The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly elaborates the background and significance of the research and the relevant literature review at home and abroad.The ideas and methods of the research are also introduced.The second chapter expounds the significance and relationship between the vocational guidance and the autonomous learning model of college English and explains the necessity of autonomous learning model.The third chapter randomly selects part of students and teachers in two universities in Nantong as the research object.By questionnaire survey and the results analysis,the paper finally finds out the problems existing in the autonomous learning model of college English and reasons.The fourth chapter designs the experimental courses,analyzes the results and finally expounds the four types of college English autonomous learning model based on career.In the fifth chapter,the author puts forward some measures to improve the independent learning model of college English from the aspects of philosophy,students,teachers,environment and evaluation system according to the investigation results and experimental results.
