Research On Industry Of Paleolithic Artifacts From The Hailang River Basin

In May 2008,a Paleolithic archaeological investigation team,composed of Heilongjiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology,Frontier Archaeology Research Center of Jilin University conducted a special archaeological fieldwork survey on the Mudan River tributary.This paper mainly analyzes and collate the artifacts from 6 locations in the Hailang River Basin,with a view to reveal its Paleolithic cultural appearance,so as to have a more comprehensive understanding of the Paleolithic culture in Heilongjiang Province.This article contains 6 chapters.Chapter1 InstructionThis chapter mainly determines the object of study and define the scope of time and space,introduce the discovery of the Paleolithic site in the Hailang River Basin,and the research history and current situation.This special investigation make up the blank of Xiao Xingan Mountain and Zhang Guangcai Mountain.Chapter 2 Location and Main discoveryThis paper mainly introduces the geographical location,climate,hydrology and vegetation of the Hailang River Basin.In this paper,the sites,the landforms and strata of the Hailang River Basin are introduced.Chapter 3 Artifacts industryFirstly,Making a comprehensive statistics of the number and type of artifacts found by the sites.Secondly,according to the industrial characteristics of the sites,the three Paleolithic industrial types discovered in the Hailang River basin can be divided into three types: the Big Flake Industry,the Blade Industry and the Micro-blade Industry.So as to get a more comprehensive and clear understanding of the industrial appearance of the Paleolithic in the Hailang River Basin.Chapter 4 Features of Paleolithic industryThis chapter first analyzes the overall cultural characteristics of the Hailang River Basin.Secondly,this section analyzes and summarizes the features of different artifacts industries from different aspects including material,size,classification,stripping technology,repairing technology and tool type combination.Finally,making an attempt to speculate on the source,development and utilization of the artifacts in this basin.Chapter 5 Industrial relations with the surrounding areasThis chapter compares the three Paleolithic industries in the Hailang River basin with northeast China,North China,the Korean Peninsula,the Far East of Russia and the archipelago of the Japanese archipelago.Through comparison,we can conclude the following two points: 1.The Paleolithic industry in the Hailang River Basin is more synchronized with the surrounding area of the Paleolithic industry;2.The Paleolithi industry in the Hailang River Basin is unique.Chapter 6 ConclusionThrough the related research on the Paleolithic industry in the Hailang River Basin,this paper draws the following points:1.The three Paleolithic industrial types discovered in the Hailang River basin can be divided into three types: the Big Flake Industry,the Blade Industry and the Microblade Industry.2.Through comparison and analysis,it can be found that all sites are late in the Paleolithic age.The location of the earliest Mancheng Nanshan,belonging to the late Paleolithic earlier stage;Longtou shan site is later than Mancheng Nanshan site,belongs to the late Paleolithic earlier stage;Qin Jia Dongshan and site of Paotai shan should be similar to that of the late Paleolithic late stage,.later than the Yang Lin Nanshan site,but earlier than the Yanglin Xishan site,the age of the Yanglin Xishan site should be late in the late Paleolithic period.3.Some of the Paleolithic sites found in the Hailang River Basin are not a single product of a certain industrial type,but a combination of several industrial types.In general,the three types of Paleolithic industrial types found in the Hailang River Basin have common industrial characteristics.4.By comparing with the surrounding Paleolithic industry,the Paleolithic industry in the Hailang river basin is not only consistent with it,but also has differences.
